Vuliò: Apulian Street Food - Rome, Italy

As you may know, Italy is loaded with tremendous food. When I recently took a trip to Rome, I spent most of the time walking around eating food from various restaurants and cafes. During my trip to the Vatican City, I decided to stop for lunch at a place called Vuliò which serves up Apulian-style Street Food. It had great reviews online, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

The small shop was located within a short walk from St. Peter's Basilica. It was fairly empty when I arrived and the food was served quickly. Apulia is the region that forms the "heel" of Italy's "boot". Vuliò brings a taste of Apulia to Rome with some fresh and delicious open-faced sandwiches, all of which are 4 euros or less.

I ordered the Caparezza which consisted of the following (in Italian): Pana, Pomodoro, Olio Evo, Origano Fresco del Gargano, Capocollo di Martina Franca, Caciocavallo Podolico del Gargano and Valeriana e Spinacino. As you can see in the photo below, it was an incredibly fresh and delicious open-faced sandwich for only 4 Euros. I've been craving another one of these ever since.

Overall, I highly recommend stopping by Vuliò if you ever find yourself near the Vatican City. There are loads of restaurants nearby, but Vuliò is serving up top-notch bites at an unbeatable price. The fresh ingredients and flavor profiles are worth the short walk away from the beaten path.
