Arethusa a mano is a hidden gem up in the boondocks of Bantam, Connecticut. It's a cafe that was opened by the Arethusa Farm team to compliment their retail store and farm-to-table restaurant. Everything is made from scratch, with high quality ingredients, and you can easily tell after your first bite.

I ordered a nitro cold-brew coffee to go with my breakfast. Arethusa a mano uses Stumptown coffee. It has a nice, strong and rich flavor. Nitro cold-brew is good because it's already sweet and bubbly so there is no need to add sugar or cream.

I snagged one of these Breakfast Bars to take with me on my morning hike. It was a chewy granola bar made with raspberries, seeds, nuts and oats. A perfect little snack for when I'm on the trail.

Here is where things get kicked up a notch... The cafe had a display case filled with doughnuts and pastries. Below is a picture of the Bantam Creme doughnut, Arethusa a mano's version of a Boston Creme. It's a nice fluffy doughnut stuffed with fresh and delicious custard, topped with chocolate frosting and chocolate crunch balls. This thing was incredible.

And now for the main event... A beautiful everything bagel, filled with farm-fresh cream cheese, smoked salmon and the works. The flavor from this sandwich is unmatched.

As you can see from the photo, it all starts with the perfect sandwich vehicle. The everything bagels at Arethusa a mano are amazing and they really set the tempo for this meal. The farm-fresh cream cheese from Arethusa Farm is what holds it all together. It's light and creamy, yet full of flavor.

The salmon itself is fresh and tasty. It's thinly sliced with a subtle smoky flavor. The works consists of lettuce, onion, tomato, and capers. They do a great job at arranging the sandwich in a nice formation to make each and every bite a serious delight.

I drove 45 minutes out of my way to visit Arethusa a mano, and I would do it again any day. The food is amazing and you can tell that all of it is made from scratch with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The place was busy when I went on a Sunday morning, as I would expect with a cafe that serves up such delicious stuff. I highly recommend Arethusa a mano to anyone that wants to start their day in a great way.
