Ever been to Bali's Jimbaran beach ? If you miss the ambiance of watching the sunset on the beach while having a good meal. In the small town of Johor- Pontian , there is a sunset western style sunset restaurant that served similar good dining feel while watchin the sunset.
The restaurant is named after The Coxn's cafe.
Located deep inside Malay village (Kampung), The Coxn's cafe may not be easily noticeable when you travel along the main road. But please pay more patience while locate the restaurant, I bet you would definitely impressed by the restaurant environment the moment you step in.
2 types of seats available , either you choose to take indoor or outdoor for sunset viewing. For tropical weather in Malaysia, definitely one will not opt for outdoor if the sun is still there. Thus the best moment for outdoor seats is maybe limited to 1-2hours daily only.
But if you were to able to arrange nicely the timing to dine in this restaurant , it will be a memorable one, as you could engage the restaurant owner for decorating the booth for special occasion- eg having a candle light dinner with your couple. The decoration fee is minimal as according to the owner , somewhere around RM50-80.
The food price is reasonable, a chicken chop or fish & chips costs around RM15-18. They even serve the malay fried rice (nasi or mee goreng) but this limited to weekdays only. By then you could spend lesser for the same great view if you happen to visit them during the weekday.
Opposite is the Banana Island (Pulau Pisang), with the sunset as the background, watching the sky turn slowly from sunny to dark is definitely a great experience especially with loved ones.
And according to restaurant owner, they did have tour came to their restaurant for stars observation. You can ask permission to climb up to the rooftop for better view.
