So lets do something about it
Inspired by the wonderful work of @mattclarke with his Adelaide organisation, and the multiple members that have run Melbourne meetups, not to mention having been prodding @ryivhnn about doing something in Perth and @bmj's post to get themselves organised, I'm finally standing up to do something about the seeming lack of Sydney organisation for actually getting together and meeting others in our community.
Why Me?
I've been kind of asking this for a while as the thought of organising this was formenting and waiting for a bigger steemian to step up and start the ball rolling. Seems that's not happening, so why not me? I mean, if anyone else wants to step up and help out, I'm not going to say no or stand in the way of other meetups, but I do want to at least get things started. I'm not always in town either, so it would be great to have some others that help out and run things when I'm not about and when I'm not available.
I've also got (some) time free to do some kind of organising, at least while things start small.
What am I currently thinking?
Panic. Panic is definitely high on my thoughts, but hey, I can organise events. I've done it before. Especially easy if the 'organise events' is as simple as my initial thought of something like Matt's monthly thing, where he's just going to be at a bar at a specific time and people rock up. But I do want to run things past a few people to find out what time/day is likely to be the best time for things.
What can you do?
My fellow Sydneysiders, what I want from you is signs of interest in coming to a meetup. Thoughts on where would be a good place to do it (I don't get out to the bars much, food places are more my thing) and what day or time would likely be the best to get a turnout.
