If you have read my posts lately, I've been writing about cruel but true facts of life. It's time to publish next one.
This has lots of layers in it. So much layers that I have to start with a Finnish stand up comedian, Ismo Leikola. The word people is a simple word, but the word shit makes this sentence very equivocal. So Ismo's stand up deals this shit. It's all about shit. Check it out before you continue reading.

If shit in this case is a good thing, the grey crow in my photo could be thinking that hanging around people is wise because they almost always leave their useful shit laying around when they leave. Some try to stuff it in to garbage cans, but come up short and the can is about one meter away from the trash they leave. And some just leave it there, where they were a moment ago, because they think there are people who are hired to do the cleaning of streets, yards, parks, woods, forests, highways and shit. So they don't have to deal with their own shit.
One man's trash is another crow's treasure.
People equals shit.
You can understand the sentence as Slipknot has. Or adjust your tone and have more nonchalant approach to it. Just like Richard Cheese! Same words but less aggressive. People do bad things, behave badly, are bad and turn beautiful things in to shit because they are selfish, greedy and stupid.
People equals shit.
You can think that shit is the things people bring with them in their head. To relationships, to work and home. They assume things because of the way you look. They assume that you are the certain way because they think they know you. They have been let down previously, so they assume you are doing the same thing to them. Fears, prejudice, past life experiences, upbringing and their culture. Shit. They bring their shit with them and judge you according to that.
People equals shit.
You can understand as it is, shit being shit and nothing more. Then it would mean that the world is drowning to shit. Shit that people leave behind. People's shit. There are too much people. Too much shit.
People equals shit.
