"But his real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon," commented the liberal.
"It's Steve" I corrected him.
There is a particular strand, or strain, of individual that is fully aware of Tommy Robinson's real name (personally I prefer "Thomas"). They seek out Tommy's supporters online to read out his crime sheet and use the current, trendy words of the left's political opponents.
Conversely, the same people are totally unaware or willfully ignorant of the plight of Cassie Pike and the brutal and torturous nature of her childhood years, subject to repeated rape and assault at the hands of over 100 adult men. She is one of so many, it's impossible to comprehend the devastation. Much like a landslide in Japan, or an earthquake in Indonesia, we simply cannot understand the volume of personal and family grief arising from these situations. It's different when you have seen and met the victims, which Tommy Robinson has in the case of the UK's grooming gang epidemic.
These grizzly facts are difficult to talk about socially. The mass grooming and rape of young girls in Britain is not a regular topic of discussion in pubs or clubs, at the bingo, or in the leaking, 'shelter of shame' outside your workplace, to where the smokers have been banished.
However, they will loudly and proudly signal their dislike for a man who exposes these issues and speaks up for the victims.
"But why does he ignore white rape?"
This is a frequently asked and false question. A rugby commentator commentates on rugby matches and is not criticised for his silence on football. Tommy is a journalist with a focus on extremist Islam, not paedophilia. Just as Mike Stuchbery is a journalist with a focus on Tommy Robinson. Tommy is as duty bound to cover "white" rape as Mike is to cover anything other than Tommy.
The liberal's use of the term "white" as an opposite to "Muslim", is totally dismissive of the existence of white Muslims, the majority of whom are peaceful citizens and make a valuable contribution to our society. Therefore the question is invalid, as Islam and "whiteness" are not mutually exclusive.
Tommy uses the phrase "Muslim rape gangs". Being a Muslim means accepting Allah and following the teachings of Islam; a religion based on a set of historical writings. It is not a race, it is a religion. The BBC term these men as "Asians", and so rather than criticise the teachings of a religious book (and the ideology/culture that springs from it), which through some interpretations value women and non-believers as "lesser beings", the BBC would have us believe that the tendency to rape young girls is linked to their place of origin and that there is something evil about the largest continent on the planet. Yet Tommy is supposedly a racist for criticising a book, while the BBC tarnishes the names of around 4.5 billion people and is labelled "impartial".
When confronted with doublethink of this magnitude, and echoed by the mainstream and social media, you will need to reverse the brainwashing before any constructive conversation can take place.
Tommy Robinson has had issues in the past. Everyone I know has at least one family member or friend who has had a rough time of it too. This country used to be forgiving of those people. A country where everyone gets a second chance. Unfortunately, the new, unforgiving and perfectionist left wing (and many of the right and centre too) doesn't.
They hate Tommy. Many would wish him dead or jailed at the very least.
However, as long as Tommy exists, people can criticise him and avoid talking about the issues that he raises. If Tommy's talking about taboo subjects, we don't have to.
Be careful when attempting to silence Tommy, because he's talking for you too.
