When you visit the island of Tenerife, there are some 'must see' places and surely Palmetum in the capital city of Santa Cruz is one of such places.
Palmetum Botanic Garden is a relatively young project, as it was started in 1995 and opened in 2014. Located on the hill near the coastline, it hosts over 500 species of palms. Groups of species are arranged according to geografical locations so every section of a garden is a world journey in itself. Palmetum also features waterfalls and ponds besides some spectacular sea views. Let's have a look:
Looks like my kind of jungle.
The Garden, being located on the hill, provides some stop spots with amazing views.
As for palms, there is lots of exotic fruits hanging around.
As some species of palms form a canopy of their leaves...
...there is also space for wildlife...
...in some fantastic sceneries.
And picturesque waterfalls give refreshment to all.
We've spent good few hours walking around and it was a great time!
It is definitely worth going to, as it is an inexpensive and unique tourist attraction, also in the reception you can buy products and gadgets and there is a big parking in front of it.
Nope, i don't get paid by Palmetum. I just like it much.
Hint for botanists: While visiting the garden, you can collect multiple species palm seeds as there is plenty lying around (don't tell anyone) :)
Camera: Sony SLT A-33.
Till the next time!
