This huge manmade lake covers an area of 890 acres and sits five kilometres to the south of the city. The Tia stream, a tributary of the Da Tam River, was dammed to create this popular attraction. Surrounded by lush pine forest it is an idyllic spot. The drive out from the city takes you along Highway 20 and over the Prenn Pass and past the Datable Waterfalls.
The air quality here is really excellent and the scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere make this one of the city’s more popular attractions. There are kayaking and sailing opportunities here, giving one superb views of the surrounding mountainous scenery. Meanwhile on the shore, people enjoy the local culture of the ethnic minority people. Local dishes include a barbecue dish called “Com Lam” and traditional “Can” wine. Locals play football and volley or partake in horse riding and elephants rides.

The lake became extremely popular after the turn of the century with over 100,000 visitors in the year 2001. It has stayed so ever since. However, it is a large area and does not seem as crowded as one might think. In the early mornings especially, it is peaceful and charming, often with a light mist enshrouding the lake.
