Attractions of Hoi An #4 The Museum of Sa Huynh Culture

The Museum of Sa Huynh Culture is located in the beautiful city Hoi An, on the coast of central Vietnam. This is a museum that showcases the pre-historic Sa Huynh culture of the region. It exhibits incredible terracotta work that has been found in the area.

The Museum of Sa Huynh Culture was established in 1994, and the artefacts on display here are unique and considered to be from the first settlers of the old historical port town. These people were known to have traded with many other Southeast Asian countries, Southern India and China.

The Museum is housed in a genuine ancient house

The collection provides tourists with useful information about the ancient Sa Huynh population and a lot is related to burial customs, life and death, the history of the region, and their relationships with other cultures. A particularly interest part of the museum is dedicated to artefacts from Bai Ong, which was on the nearby Cham Island. This dates back an incredible 3,000 years. The museum houses the biggest and best collection of Sa Huynh culture in Vietnam.

The best time to visit Hoi An is between April and June: Read about this in depth here: @inseasia/best-time-to-visit-vietnam-5-hoi-an
