The scorching heat of the sun makes the seawater of this hidden paradise even clearer. The pure white sand is truly a relaxing haven especially for those who need to de-stress. Located in the northern portion of Negros Occidental particularly in the coast of Cadiz, lies a 16-hectare banana-shaped island called Lakawon or Llacaon.
There are different means to reach Negros Occidental from Cebu - - - by airplane in the Mactan International Airport via Bacolod OR by a bus via San Carlos or Escalante. We chose the latter because we wanted to challenge ourselves and this option is cheaper (if there are no airfare promos..lol!).
From the Cebu City's North Bus terminal, we took a bus via San Carlos. This route has the earliest bus schedule. But you may also take the Escalante route.
This is challenging for us because we need to endure the longer land trips and be full of energy in spite of the sleepless night.
After more or less 9 hours of bus, barge, another bus, and tricycle travels, we arrived in Lakawon Island. As we go nearer and nearer the island, my tiresome body was gradually renewed. The place is amazing and is perfect for everyone to unwind.
Apart from the crystal clear water, and white sand, the island resort has its own version of woven cottages which are great for the sun's heat. And you should never leave the island without trying their floating bar which is tagged as the biggest in Asia! I am sure you will have plenty of nice pictures in the island.
It was a very long trip. Yet, I could say that our adventure to Lakawon Island was all worth it.
