Take A Break: Kanazawa-Toyama-Nagano Trip#7

Hello my Steemit friends,

We are in Nagano. After our apple picking experience, we headed to the Togakushi area which the staff had given us information about the day before at the Tourist Information desk.

We followed the car navigation to Togakushi. On the way, we stopped at a villager's home, in front of which was a small grocery store selling various vegetables. I think they grow them themselves.

Look at these big, cheap daikons. One Daikon is 160 yen, and if you buy 5 you get 1 free. Wow! If I were there I'd buy them. This shop had a special free appetizer service, boiled pumpkin with soy sauce and oden. It was very good.

Actually, we didn't buy anything because it would be difficult to take back to Osaka on public transport. But we had an appetizer and I felt embarrassed for not buying anything. We told them we would like to pay for it but they said it was complimentary. So we ended up buying 2 grilled sweet potatoes for 200 yen. 🤣

It was time for lunch, and not far from that grocery store there was a local soba restaurant. I forgot to tell you that soba (Japanese noodles) is famous and good in Nagano. You should try it when you visit here.

Ninokura is a speciality homemade soba restaurant. It's soft and a bit sticky. There are 20 seats both inside and outside. If you look at the wall you will see Japanese stars who have been here. It's not the typical local restaurant, don't you think?

This is my order, tempura soba. It was a big bowl with lots of soba. It was absolutely delicious, not salty like other restaurants. 😆

It seemed busy at lunch time, as there were no available seats when we arrived. We had to wait for 5 minute for our seats.
