Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
When visiting Rome, I was really amazed by the charm and beauty of its ancient architectural landmarks such as Forum Romanum. Let me show you a few shots of this magnificent piece of architecture that I took both in broad daylight and in the night.
Forum Romanum is basically a complex of a rectangular square and ruins of several ancient buildings in the very historic center of the city.
Once the beating heart of ancient Rome, this place served as the site of the most important events in the city - from elections and memorable public speeches to criminal trials and even the legendary gladiator contests.
The origins of Forum Romanum date back to as early as the 7th century BC when the site (originally a wetland) was drained through a sewer system known as Cloaca Maxima and constructions of the first building began.
These days, Forum Romanum is considered one of the most important landmarks of the city, attracting over 4.5 million visitors every year.
