Costa del Sol

The coastline of Malaga province is popular for its beaches, miles and endless miles of them - which is why it is also known as ‘Costa del Sol’ – Coast of the Sun, in English. And it wouldn't be too far off to say that Benalmadena is the heart of this long stretch of beach.

This is a very popular destination for tourists in the warmer months. The season starts in May and slows down around September. It is a flourishing period for the hotels, restaurants, eateries, bars and gift shops on the beach front along the coast.

At the moment, although it is hot, the waves are still a bit rough and the breeze is still quite cool. Definitely, still too cold for a dip. It is not peak season yet.

At night, the sidewalks come alive with peddlers peddling their wares – usually imitation copies of shoes, tee-shirts, handbags, wallets, belts and toys.

(For some reason, this photo refused to right itself. Sorry about that.)

This will be what it's like when tourists arrival peaked in the coming weeks.
