I found an unexpected bell in the corner of the temple.
That was protected by the traditional style building.
The wooden carved sculpture attracted my attention. It looked like a folk cultural thing.
The bell was made in the period of the Chinese Song Dynasty.
It was recorded that this bell was confiscated by the Imperial Japanese Military for making their weapons. Japanese Army had taken by force lots of historical heritages in Korea and China during the Imperial Japanese era.
It was fortune that the bell was saved with the end of the Second WW.
A monk found the bell in the weapon factory in Korea and brought that bell in this temple.
What attracted me was the patterns on the bell.
The most interesting part was the 8 divination signs which were parts of the Great Absolute(Tai Chi)
Those each divination sign is told to have its specific meaning.
Those divination patterns on the bell seemed tell me the characteristics of the Chinese Buddhism.
It looked like that there was a same phenomenon in accepting Buddhism between Korea and China. They had mixed Buddhism with their traditional philosophy and the philosophy.
