Food and memories

Looking at these photos of mine, I think I've already figured out for myself why we are so obsessed with taking pictures of our food or drinks in restaurants.
Take for example this plate of ordinary, if not quite (😁), fried fish and quite ordinary fries.

Nothing special, right? Except for the teeth of this obviously predatory fish and so tasty accordingly.

I only take pictures of my plate when I travel. It is not only because usually only on vacation a person allows himself to order slightly more expensive food. But that's because usually that food is presumptively different from the food at home or in his hometown, isn't it?

It is also to preserve the moment. Forever, you know.
Vacations are the time when one feels truly happy. Perhaps this is the only time when one feels happy, for a short time one can feel imaginary freedom.
And so, taking a picture of my plate, I capture this very happy moment.

And then I start to remember. I remember very well where I photographed this plate.

It was in an unreasonably expensive restaurant in an unreasonably expensive hotel in the unreasonably expensive Black Sea city of Balchik. I remember the arrogant waiters speaking Romanian to the regular Romanian customers, I also remember the Romanian customers around. I also remember the cheekiest restaurant fat cat trying to scratch me and jump on me trying to get the fish on my plate...

I remember everything. Just because I took these pictures.
