Welcome Steemian friends to the great photography of my friend and neighbor Rich Behl.
We moved from Tucson, Arizona and the Sonoran desert to the more humid Tampa Bay area.
We miss the cactus and at times 15% humidity and the four mountain ranges of the Tucson area. The desert is beautiiful!
Here in Florida we have wetlands. At our home about 25 miles south of Tampa and only about 6 miles in from the Bay we have birds large and small I have never seen up close and personal.
Rich Behl is a resident of our community and a great photographer. A couple of previous posts feature his work. Every photo taken within a half mile of our home.
The anhinga is found all over the world in warm shallow waters. They have been found as far north as Pennsylvania, but that is unusual.
They weigh on average 2.7 lbs. and can be about 35 inches in length.
The anhinga are barely buoyant and can stay under water longer than most birds in search of prey. But they don't fly well at all until their winds are quite dry! They stand with their wings spread flapping them so they will dry more quickly.

See the range in the Western Hemisphere of the anhinga.
I hope you have enjoyed the anhinga and the work of Rich Behl. UPVOTE and FOLLOW...thank you.
