I had the scariest of mornings, an exhaustive afternoon and an evening filled with headache and hunger. Read on to find out more.
The Scariest Of Mornings
For the past two days, I have been having scary dreams. I don’t believe much in the supernatural. I believe dreams are products of the mind. Well, I still do but the last two nights have caused me to wonder.
You see, for the past two days I have been struggling to come up with an entry for the finishthestory contest. The prompt has something to do with supernatural beings and all. For two nights I have pondered on how to begin my entry; for two nights I’ve come up with nothing. I finally decided I was going do something scary. As I surfed through contest posts, I came across the picture of a snake. For some strange reason, I could remember that picture as if it were right before me.
Two Nights Ago
I stay on the top floor in my one story multi-tenanted building. I was sleeping two nights ago when the snake appeared. My neighbours hurled stones at it with no success. The snake managed to make it into one of the apartments directly below me. It crawled its way up and made it upstairs. It turned its sights to my room at once.
I saw the approaching snake and was scared to my pants. I ran to the balcony and climbed over. There I was, holding on to the banister as the snake crawled its way towards me. My entire being was inundated in fear.
I knew it was a dream but I couldn’t get myself to wake up. It seemed so real that it seemed like if I woke up, I would actually be taking my hands off the banister and probably falling to my death. I did wake up; and when I did, I was drenched in my own sweat.
Last Night/This Morning
Last night, I decided to sleep over at a friend’s place. There was no electrify supply at my place and I needed to publish some posts. Midnight came and I decided to heed nature’s call. There I was, sleeping on the mattress laid on the floor when the noise began.
It sounded like a struggle. My mind told me it was a snake - the snake - trying to capture a lizard. I tried to ignore it but the noise would not stop. I struggled to keep my eyes closed but my mind was wide awake. The noise soon stopped. The brief silence was tailed by loud pounding against the door. I heard my heart begin a tremulous tune. I woke up with a start, turned on the flash-light on my phone and waited.
I don’t remember waiting for so long, expecting something as I did this morning. I expected the snake to crawl its way in. I watched in the darkness and waited. My heart beat waited. My fearful limbs waited. I waited until I became ashamed of myself. My tired eyes finally forced me to lay my head and I managed to sleep for a while before daybreak.
An Exhaustive Afternoon
I spent my afternoon walking around, looking for a place to charge my gadgets and create posts. I am honestly tired of the pathetic electricity situation in my country. I’m grateful though. I remember there was a time when no one had power supply for days.
I also tried to create an entry for a contest organised by originalworks. I had sent in an entry for the last one and was surprised I didn’t get as much as I thought I would. I mean, I put in maximum effort. It was damn annoying. I checked out the winner's post. From what I saw, the writer simply rewrote the original post and published it as his own entry. I felt cheated for a while as I had tried to create an original entry.
Well, there isn't much time to regret and moan. I decided to do a rewrite of the original piece. I wonder if I would be accused of plagiarism or get a very good prize. Hell, at this point, I don’t care that much. I’m assured of the bonus 2.5 steem they give as consolation prize though. Guess I'll have to stick with that.
An Evening of Headache And Hunger
After the terrible morning and frustrating afternoon, one would expect the evening to be merciful at the very least. Well, it wasn’t. I had this headache that was bent on pounding my brain into dust. I don’t take drugs for my headache as I hate them. I tried drinking water and seeing a movie.
Just as I settled down to see the movie, my neighbour decided to make my life miserable with her constant disturbance. She kept asking me questions and demanded I attended to her. I tried leaving her but she wouldn't let me. It was oblivious she wanted to play. Well, I wasn’t in the mood and she was only adding to my headache. I told her I had an headache and asked that she left me alone.
She offered to help. Well, the more she tried to help, the more disturbing she became. I told her to leave. I was frustrated, tired and hungry. I wanted to be left alone.
By the time dinner got ready (a friend was cooking), I was already sick and tired of the day.
Now, I am racing to get this piece finished before midnight.
That’s it, I’m done here
Thanks for reading.
