Ulog #107 Searching for a Vehicle Joining Weku

Steem is low, but it has been low before. I do expect a new life to come into Steem before too long.

Vehicle Search

Looking for a vehicle where we live has turned into an adventure. We are searching for a vehicle to help us move the children’s ministry to the next level. It rains here some times every day and we also feed the children both natural and spiritual food. Having a verhicle would allow us to be more consistent as our only vehicle at this time is my motorcycle.

Our preference is an extended cab pickup that would allow us to carry food, people and sound equipment to remote areas. 4 wheeled drive would be nice, but not a must.

A few things that have been a challenge:

  • Used vehicles have been more expensive than the new. We don’t have quite enough for the new.
  • Many have the habit of disconnecting the speedometer cable so when the mileage is low on the odometer, it may not really be a factual reading.
  • As in anywhere in the world, some salespeople will tell you anything to make a sale.
  • One Vehicle I went to see, the person I went to meet in town, was not where he said he would be.
  • People’s ad that says they are in my region are actually from very far away.
  • Once someone gets your phone number, they call most every day. Sometimes more than once!
  • You tell people you are looking for an Automatic and they still bring Manual shift vehicles for your to see.
  • When sales people see an American they assume I have endless money. We are missionaries. We invest most everything in people.

This is really a nice used pickup, but it is a manual shift. @ronafe wants an automatic. For me Manual is great!

Not a pickup, but this Kia Sorento is a nice ride. 2013 but only 29,000 kilometers. Is this real? The car is in great shape. Diesel and surprisingly very powerful and fast.

It has a very large trunk area and would do well for storing things for the children’s outreach. It is an automatic. We do hear getting parts and the cost of replacement parts is difficult and costly.

We are looking! The best deals seem to be far away. Cebu or Manila! Then we have the additional cost of bringing the vehicle here by boat.

Both @ronafe and I prefer the Nissan Navara El Calibre for the size and what we think will be useful and suitable for us.

Steemit

  • Participation seems to be low most likely because of the low price of Steem and SBD
While things are slow, we can still build our accounts and when Steem rebounds, whatever we made during this slow time will multiply. If you made 100 Steem, Steem goes to $3 or $4, your gained $300 or $400. Everybody hunkering down, delegating, not participating is really counter productive in my opinion.
  • There are other reasons to be active on Steemit than the money. Community, fellowship, friendship and fun.

Weku

Many have joined other similar sites to Steemit. It would have been great to have jumped aboard Steemit when it was in its infancy. Today we would have been one of the whales, orca whales or dolphins.

So joining another similar site while it is in its infancy seems to be a great idea. Not leaving Steemit, but diversifying.

Just your email address and verification link and you are in. You will see many that you recognize over there too. It looks, smells and tastes much like Steemit.

Thank you for your time!

A few photos from my recent trips for your enjoyment.
God bless the Philippines!
