This is my first attempt at writing my #ulog. What is a ULOG will you ask me? It's a log about YOU. That's an idea coming straight out from Terry's (@surpassinggoogle) mind. If you struggle finding a topic to write about on Steemit, then stop searching, here's your topic: you
! Consider Steemit as your diary and all of us are you fans, tell us about you, like anything: what you like, what you don't, how you feel right now, what great happened to you today, let the Steem blockchain be the witness of your life.
As this is my first #ulog, I will rewind a little bit from the beginning of the week and talk a little bit about how my regular week looks like.
Monday
I start the week working from home, this is a luxury I've been waiting for many years and the company I work for has finally put in place the required infrastructure to allow this. I live on the Central Coast, about 80km away from my workplace. So even working a single day from home is something very valuable:
- I get to take my boy to school
- I get to be with my wife for the whole day and have lunch with her
- I get to have dinner with the whole family
- I can do some paperwork or get the car repaired etc... before work or during lunchtime
- In winter, like now, after work, I can still see some sunlight rather than coming home when it is pitch black.
Being a developer, I can work anywhere as long as I have access to the Internet and thanks to the mobile technologies, I can hook my laptop to my smartphone and use the mobile broadband to connect to the office virtual private network. This allows me to enjoy working outdoors in the sun at a local park as you can see from the photograph above and the following one.
Tuesday to Thursday
It has been a busy period, the World Cup is starting in few days. I work for a TV broadcast company in Australia and we are publishing some of the matches. So everything needs to be ready.
Twice a month, I'm on a support roaster. I need to be available 24/7 and answer calls if anything goes wrong with our service.
During the World Cup, I will be on night shift for about two weeks. My task will be to watch the matches and make sure things are working properly. I'd be sharing the shifts with 3 other colleagues. I'm not a fan of Football, but the night shifts are short so I can spend the rest of the day doing personal things and of course Steemit related activities :-)
Friday
Every other Friday, there is a Karaoke event taking place at the office. The organizer has booked the radio studio and we can go there and enjoy some singing to take away the stress of the week, what a great idea. This week, I decided to bring my Ukulele and play a song or two. To my surprise, someone else brought an instrument too: a Charango.
The charango is a small Andean stringed instrument of the lute family, which probably originated in the Quechua and Aymara populations in post-Colombian times, after European stringed instruments were introduced by the Spanish during colonialization. The instrument is widespread throughout the Andean regions of Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, northern Chile and northwestern Argentina, where it is a popular musical instrument which exists in many variant forms.
Here is a short footage of Alberto playing the Charango:
I could help but try to take some photographs of him using my iPhone 8 Plus. I wanted some effects on the image to match the instrument:
There is something about the Charango that really clicks in me. That softness in the sound, that brightness to its tone. It's really nice to listen to.
Saturday
I got sick last night, I felt some weakness in the chest in the heart area. That worried me because I had no other symptoms. I felt very sleepy very early and slept until 11:30 am. I woke up with a headache and sore throat, went having a breakfast and went back to bed until the late afternoon. Well at least now I know why I had that chest sensation, must be a virus or something. Having slept, all day, I couldn't sleep until 3 am that night.
Sunday
I woke up at 9 or 10, I can't remember now and went doing some work before heading to Discord and joined the Steemgig server to attend @surpassinggoogle's Steemgigs talk. I was late and Terry punished me by having me sing two songs for the group 🤣Some of the people who were there are: @dynamicgreentk, @dynamicshine, @evlachsblog, @josediccus and @irak.
After the talk, I went to harvest some compost worms for a customer who wanted to buy 20L of worm starter mix. So I went and filled a bucket for him. As he arrived, we discussed vermicomposting and I took him for a little tour of my garden, the DIY compost enclosure, the worm farm and the black soldier fly larvae bin.
As the customer went home, I took the opportunity to harvest the lime from the Dwarf Citrus tree. I think I will have some nice lemonade tomorrow:
I then spent a little bit of time with my son and then went practice the circular breathing on the Didgeridoo. It's been a while and I've lost the technique.
At around 5pm, I went on Discord to listen to the Hanoi Vietnam Steemit Meetup organized by @hanggggbeeee and her friends. There are more and more Vietnamese on Steemit and we are trying to build a strong community where each member can help one another succeed on the platform. There was a very good turn up to the meetup and some Steemians such as @waybeyondpadthai have even flown to Hanoi from abroad! That's amazing. Thanks guys for supporting our community.
Somewhere after 7pm, @hanggggbeeee video called me on Discord and I started presenting my new project: @teamvn, the Vietnamese community bot and Team Vietnam the new Vietnamese community on Discord. I was also asked to sing a little song live 😳geez, I was unprepared.
These two photos of me (on the projection screen) are courtesy @quynhngan253 who took them from the venue
After the song. I continued explaining the bot and the Discord server and it was Q&A time.
Well that's about it.
Now lets see how long I will be able to write #ulogs for :-D

Password and Private Keys security
You all know that your Steem password is the access to all your STEEM, SBD, posting, transferring, everything... right?
So, please, follow those simple steps and keep yourself safe:
- Apart from the initial setup of your account, NEVER use your password ANYWHERE, if stolen, it will give full control to your Steem account.
- Backup your password and keep it somewhere safe. Use a password manager like Lastpass, print it on paper and put it in a safe (no kidding). If you forget your password, no one can help you out.
- To login for creating content and curating, use your Private Posting Key
- To make transfers and account operations, use your Private Active Key
- To encrypt and decrypt memos, use your Private Memo Key
