ULOG 032 - A long day

I'm very tired today and felt sleepy all day. What that means is that you will get that generic ULOG header photo instead of a new one 🤣. This morning it was 3 degrees Celcius when I went out of the house, geez, I thought it was supposed to be warm in Australia!

At work

Today is the start the of a new sprint. At the office, we are using a methodology called Agile. We split a development into two weeks iterations called sprints.

At the beginning of each sprint we would have a sprint retrospective followed by a sprint planning.

A sprint retrospective is a meeting where every team members will sit down and write down what they think went well, what could benefit of some improvements and what went not that well. Then we would discuss each point and come up with actions.

During a sprint planning, we would check the backlog and pull in tasks to be done and we give them some estimates and prioritize them to be worked on the current sprint.

For lunch, I went with my colleague to Chatswood and we had a Vietnamese Phở (beef noodle soup). My colleague also went to the Asian groceries as there is more choice and it is cheaper here than up where we live.

The afternoon was rather long because both of us were still recovering from our night shifts and are feeling time lagged.

I could barely concentrate on my work and had to take many breaks.

Steem blockchain v0.19.10

In a recent post, Steemit Inc has announced the release of the version 0.19.10 of steemd, the blockchain software:
Steem 19.10 Officially Released: AppBase, RocksDB, Unlimited Content Editing, and More!

I don't want to go into technical details in a #ulog but the important points are:

  • better scalability
  • faster and more efficient blockchain
  • and the most interesting points for the end users is the ability to edit posts older than 7 days!

I have, today, started to test this upgrade on my seed node and will upgrade the witness node if all seems good.

Community statistics

I've recently started to produce some stats for Team Vietnam and cloned the code to also produce stats for Team Australia and stats for the French community

Password and Private Keys security

You all know that your Steem password is the access to all your STEEM, SBD, posting, transferring, everything... right?
So, please, follow these simple steps and keep yourself safe:

  1. Apart from the initial setup of your account, NEVER use your password ANYWHERE, if stolen, it will give full control to your Steem account.
  2. Backup your password and keep it somewhere safe. Use a password manager like Lastpass, print it on paper and put it in a safe (no kidding). If you forget your password, no one can help you out.
  3. To login for creating content and curating, use your Private Posting Key
  4. To make transfers and account operations, use your Private Active Key
  5. To encrypt and decrypt memos, use your Private Memo Key
