Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside the browser.

Node.js brings event-driven programming to web servers, enabling development of fast web servers in JavaScript. Developers can create highly scalable servers without using threading, by using a simplified model of event-driven programming that uses callbacks to signal the completion of a task. Node.js connects the ease of a scripting language (JavaScript) with the power of Unix network programming.

Contribution Specifications

Node.js is currently being translated into 33 languages. I´m contributing to making this project accessible to the Spanish speaking community online.

The progress of the Node.js project is rapidly increasing day by day, 117,127 words have been translated so far in the Spanish folder of Node.js, which amounts to a total of 11% done in regards to the completion of the translation of this big project (1,000,000+ words!)

Translation Overview

The terminology of the text translated is mostly related to computer science and programming.

In this part of my contribution for Node.js, I continued translating the http2.md folder, as shown in the following images:

These are the concepts and words I've learned so far while working on Node.js:

Callback, Addon, Compile, Array, POSIX, Hook, Instance, API, Resource, Promise, Embedder, Exception, Stream, String, Method, Class, Recursion, Handler, Listener, Padding, Flag, Integer, Appending, Polling, Timestamp, Truncation, Kernel, Symbolic Link, Unix Epoch Time, Debugging, Stack, Header, Client, HTTP, Peer, Frame, Socket.

These are the concepts I learned while working on this contribution for Node.js:

1 . Routing

In internetworking, the process of moving a packet of data from source to destination. Routing is usually performed by a dedicated device called a router. Routing is a key feature of the Internet because it enables messages to pass from one computer to another and eventually reach the target machine. Each intermediary computer performs routing by passing along the message to the next computer.

2 . Tuple

In programming languages, such as Lisp, Python, Linda, and others, a tuple (pronounced TUH-pul) is an ordered set of values. The separator for each value is often a comma (depending on the rules of the particular language). Common uses for the tuple as a data type are (1) for passing a string of parameters from one program to another, and (2) representing a set of value attributes in a relational database.

Languages

The project's source language is English and it was translated into Spanish.

Besides collaborating as a translator for Open Source Projects on Crowdin I also work as a Freelance Translator for a law firm in the US, I've been working for that company for 9 months, translating sworn statements and legal documents from English to Spanish and viceversa.

Open Source Projects I've worked on and contributed as a translator:

2 . OroCRM

3 . BiglyBT

4 . The Curious Expedition.
