Utopian Visibility Whitelist

Introduction

My name is Ebixy Ebi Laffin and I have a page on Facebook where I promote open source applications.

hledger is an accounting program, for tracking money, time, or other commodities. It is cross-platform and released under GNU GPLv3.
With powerful, intuitive functionality accessible from command line, terminal or web browser, hledger is a fast, secure, dependable alternative to spreadsheets, Quickbooks, GnuCash, Xero etc.

No matter how small a family, company or organization is, there is always a need to track some certain kind of information for better management. Such information could include money, time or other essential quantities relevant to your activities.

Plain text accounting became popular in the mid-2000s, and it is best suitable for users who are more comfortable with the command line of the computer. Although an optional graphical user interface is also available.

Targetting and Audience

The last time I did a promotion on Hledger, one of the issues I had was age selection. I selected all the way from 18 to 60. This age bracket is not best suited for command line type of software especially the older people, who are best suited for drag and drop type of software.

This time around, I reduced the age to between 18 and 45. I also crafted a better ad message with a call to action and the results looks better

Interest: Programmer, Accountant, Time management, efficiency, productivity and bookkeeping

Age: 18 - 45 (The age reflects the tech-savvy age bracket)

Country: Nigeria
Platform: PC (the software has no mobile version)

Ad message and Call To Action

The ad message included a call to action button of "Send message" for those interested in knowing more about Kodi.

I received a message from a Facebook user asking me to tell him about more products.

Goal / Conversions

The post had a total of 215 link clicks and 121 engagements (likes)

Bidding Strategy and Results

I choose the Cost Per Click (CPC) bidding strategy with the aim of having link clicks and website visits. The bid was set to automatic, meaning Facebook is to deliver the ad at the best possible price/rate.

I spent a total of $10 and it ran for a total of 5 days. The gender results are as follows; Women 21.9% and Men 78.1%
