So aside from the "red shirt" Star Trek reference that is pretty much universal by now, there are two inside jokes here.
The first is known to those who play the game... there is an "upgrade" you can purchase that increases your maximum squad size by one person, which is a little ridiculous hence Cam's sarcastic reference. The second inside joke is the title itself and is obvious to men and women in the military and those who spend time around them. "FNG" stands for "F***ing New Guy", and depending on the situation can either involve serious ass-chewing or good-natured ball-busting. It's not very PC, but that is kind of the point. 😏
