Today, during our community hangout, we were discussing how the world is polarized. But in the end we discussed something totally different: How to fix one of the biggest Hive problems, which is a dump of posts. And communities are a part of this problem, unfortunately. The biggest challenge is how to make the community engaged and post while not producing a large dump of nonsense.

I love communities that give prompts, since these prompts can touch our deep and make us motivated to write about this specific topic, bringing specific cases in our lives that have some intimacy to their topic. However it also motivates those who just one to post every day to produce anything just to get the vote. There are some people who have posting schedules, such as posting on Mondays in X community and Tuesdays in Y community, and they will write regardless of the prompt. The result of the need to post with a given topic is that sometimes you don't feel connected with a certain topic and still you post about it. The result is a generic and cold post that the reader doesn't feel connected. Many communities will curate this post independently of the connection, if they follow the rules and didn't plagiarize or use AI.

The consequences of that are giving fuel for the users to keep posting, because they need that extra money. Communities want to keep their curation accounts growing and getting a good APR, but probably that isn't the best way to keep our Hive community healthy. Curators should be free to decide who they curate. Skipping curation is possible, and it isn't difficult to observe people who only post to get the daily reward on posting.

The problem of the dump of posts is that possibly interesting posts sometimes don't receive the outreach deserved. I read so many interesting posts with a low number of people stopping by. Everybody used to live your lives without Hive, supporting their own lives by doing their job. Dumping posts every day isn't the answer to solve our financial lives. Communities should start curating with more caution the posts on their communities. Remember that you still can get your curation APR back if you vote on burn posts. Isn't it better to do that instead of fueling inorganic posting?

I am not even talking about how our curation responsibility can influence the value of Hive. But the huge amount of daily posts, which are even closer to SPAM compared to real productive posts that represent ourselves. It isn’t a problem to post every day, but the problem is when the inspiration to write plus the topic doesn't help you and you produce just to get the reward. We need to be sincere with ourselves and when we don't feel that it is right to post about this topic or even during that day, just avoid it. And for the communities, probably reducing the curation in these posts is the best thing.

Hoje, durante o nosso hangout da comunidade, estávamos discutindo como o mundo está polarizado. Mas, no final, discutimos algo totalmente diferente: como consertar um dos maiores problemas do Hive, que é o despejo de postagens. E as comunidades, infelizmente, fazem parte desse problema. O maior desafio é como fazer com que a comunidade se engaje e poste sem produzir um grande despejo de bobagens.

Adoro comunidades que dão dicas, pois elas podem tocar nosso íntimo e nos motivar a escrever sobre esse tópico específico, trazendo casos específicos de nossas vidas que têm alguma intimidade com o tema. No entanto, isso também motiva aqueles que postam apenas uma vez por dia a produzir qualquer coisa só para obter votos. Há algumas pessoas que têm cronogramas de postagem, como postar às segundas-feiras na comunidade X e às terças-feiras na comunidade Y, e escrevem independentemente do prompt. O resultado da necessidade de postar sobre um determinado tópico é que, às vezes, você não se sente conectado com um determinado tópico e, mesmo assim, publica sobre ele. O resultado é uma postagem genérica e fria, com a qual o leitor não se sente conectado. Muitas comunidades farão a curadoria desta postagem independentemente da conexão, se seguirem as regras e não plagiarem ou usarem IA.

As consequências disso são dar combustível para os usuários continuarem postando, porque eles precisam desse dinheiro extra. As comunidades querem manter suas contas de curadoria crescendo e obtendo uma boa taxa anual de juros (APR), mas provavelmente essa não é a melhor maneira de manter nossa comunidade Hive saudável. Os curadores devem ter liberdade para decidir quem curam. Pular a curadoria é possível, e não é difícil observar pessoas que postam apenas para receber a recompensa diária por postar.

O problema do descarte de posts é que posts possivelmente interessantes às vezes não recebem a devida atenção. Li muitos posts interessantes com um número baixo de pessoas acessando. Todo mundo costumava viver suas vidas sem o Hive, sustentando suas próprias vidas fazendo seu trabalho. Descartar posts todos os dias não é a solução para nossas vidas financeiras. As comunidades devem começar a selecionar com mais cuidado os posts em suas comunidades. Lembre-se de que você ainda pode receber de volta sua taxa de curadoria (APR) se votar em posts queimados. Não é melhor fazer isso em vez de alimentar postagens inorgânicas?

Nem estou falando de como nossa responsabilidade de curadoria pode influenciar o valor do Hive. Mas sim da enorme quantidade de postagens diárias, que estão ainda mais próximas de SPAM em comparação com postagens produtivas reais que nos representam. Não é um problema postar todos os dias, mas o problema é quando a inspiração para escrever e o tema não te ajudam e você produz apenas para ser recompensado. Precisamos ser sinceros conosco mesmos e, quando não achamos certo postar sobre este tema ou mesmo durante aquele dia, simplesmente evitamos. E para as comunidades, provavelmente reduzir a curadoria dessas postagens é a melhor coisa.
