**I've been doing video game reviews for many years and I have not done any review of any of the many games of the Kirby saga, despite being one of the most classic sagas of Nintendo and I have never really finished a game of this protagonist in the form of pink ball, I've played several but I've never reached the end of any of them. So I decided that it was finally time to play one and while I was looking for one to play I discovered, since I had no idea of the existence of this game, a Kirby for Nintendo 64, being this and if I'm not mistaken the first Kirby game in 3D, but keeping features that makes it a 2.5D game, although the character design is in 3D. So without further ado I set out to play the game and it turned out to be very entertaining and visually beautiful, the latter aspect being very characteristic of the Kirby saga.**

**We are on the planet Ripple Star, a place full of happiness and peace, but that tranquility will quickly vanish with the arrival of Dark Matter. A fairy that inhabits that planet called Ribbon tries with all her strength to protect the sacred crystal of the planet but in such a situation the crystal is destroyed and its pieces are scattered throughout the universe. Back on Pop Star, the planet where our protagonist Kirby lives, we see that Ribbon appears before him and asks for help to recover the pieces of the sacred crystal that has been destroyed and tells him that he must help her to recover them. **This is a game that presents a "soft" visual style, I don't know if I can explain it well, but the textures present in this game have a quite marked "softness", both in its characters, as well as in the designs of the characters and decorative elements. The backgrounds of the scenarios have many decorative elements and are made in such a way that it has enough depth or at least that makes us believe, although it is more a technical trick than anything else.**

**In quieter moments there will be music with softer rhythms, while in the more frenetic moments, these being the battles against final bosses, the music changes to more upbeat rhythms, but somehow maintaining a musical style that fits very well with the visual aesthetics of the game. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards despite being the first game of the series in 3D, still maintains many of the most classic features of 2D games and although this game has 3D elements, its gameplay really fits a 2D game. **Llevo muchos años haciendo reviews de videojuegos y no he hecho ninguna review de alguno de los tantos juegos de la saga Kirby, a pesar de ser una de las sagas más clásicas de Nintendo y es que realmente nunca he terminado un juego de este protagonista en forma de bola rosada, he jugado a varios pero nunca he llegado al final de ninguno de ellos. Por lo que he decidido que por fin era tiempo de jugar alguno y mientras buscaba alguno para jugar descubrí, ya que no tenía ni la menor idea de la existencia de ese juego, un Kirby para Nintendo 64, siendo este y si no me equivoco el primer juego de Kirby en 3D, pero manteniendo características que lo hace ser a la vez un juego de 2.5D, aunque el diseño de los personajes es en 3D. Por lo que sin más me dispuse a jugar a dicho videojuego y resultó ser muy entretenido y visualmente bonito, siendo este último aspecto muy característico de la saga de Kirby.**

**Nos encontramos en el planeta Ripple Star, un lugar lleno de felicidad y paz, pero esa tranquilidad se va a esfumar rápidamente con la llegada de Dark Matter. Un hada que habita ese planeta llamada Ribbon intenta con todas sus fuerzas proteger el cristal sagrado del planeta pero ante tal situacion el cristal es destruido y sus pedazos son esparcidos por el universo. De vuelta en Pop Star, planeta donde vive nuestro protagonista Kirby, vemos que Ribbon se presenta ante él y le pide ayuda para recuperar los trozos del cristal sagrado que ha sido destruido y le dice que debe ayudarla a recuperarlos. Gráficamente estamos ante un juego que no solo es colorido y bonito visualmente, sino que como el mismísimo Kirby los escenarios, así también como los personajes (la gran mayoría de ellos) tienen diseños bastante tiernos. **Este es un juego que presenta un estilo visual “suave”, no sé si logro explicarlo bien, pero las texturas presentes en este juego cuentan con una “suavidad” bastante marcada, tanto en sus personajes, así también como en los diseños de los personajes y elementos decorativos. Los fondos de los escenarios cuentan con bastantes elementos decorativos y están hechos de tal forma que tiene bastante profundidad o al menos eso nos hace creer, aunque es más un truco técnico que cualquier otra cosa.**

En definitiva en un juego que destaca demasiado por su aspecto gráfico, el cual ha envejecido bastante bien para los tiempos actuales. **En momentos de más tranquilidad habrá música con ritmos más suaves, mientras que en los momentos más frenéticos, siendo estos las batallas contra jefes finales, la música cambia a ritmos más movidos, pero de alguna manera manteniendo un estilo musical que encaja muy bien con la estética visual del juego. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards a pesar de ser el primer juego de la saga en 3D, aún mantiene muchísimas de las características más clásicas de los juegos en 2D y es que aunque este juego cuente con elementos en 3D, realmente su jugabilidad se ajusta a un juego en 2D. **Kirby es capaz de realidad sus clásicas acciones como: correr, saltar, flotar y absorber a sus enemigos para posteriormente adquirir sus poderes. Además de adquirir los poderes adsorbiendo a sus enemigos, Kirby también podrá fusionarlos, teniendo este juego una tabla de combinaciones para crear un tercer poder, es decir, al combinar las habilidades de Bomba y Fuego, Kirby adquiere la habilidad de un cohete que explota. Mientras que al combinar otros poderes como Hielo y Electricidad Kirby adquiere la habilidad de un refrigerador que puede lanzar comida.
