# SPANISH ### El viaje inesperado: 10 años de esta historia 😄 Durante mi adolescencia mi vocación se inclinó hacia las humanidades, específicamente la psicología, sin embargo la vida tenía otros planes. Tras varios intentos fallidos de buscar cupos en psicología (pruebas, intentar por sistemas de asignación de cupos), abracé la idea que mi camino profesional sería diferente. El año 2009 marcó la ruta: una compañera investigando opciones en una universidad fuera de la localidad donde viviamos, conoció el director de una carrera desconocida para mi, la orientó y ella me explicó un poco, me dijo: ¡hey investiga está carrera, se llama Desarrollo Humano!. ¡Probemos!. Esa recomendación se convirtió en mi tercera opción en el sistema de asignación de cupos, mientras que las dos primeras seguia siendo psicología. El día de los resultados, leí: "fuiste asignada a Desarrollo Humano". Fue una inmensa sorpresa y el resto es historia que iré compartiendo progresivamente. 10 años después ejerzo mi profesión, desde el primer día siempre he estado vinculada a áreas de desarrollo comunitario, gestión social, diseño y ejecución de proyectos y muchas cosas más. ¡Gracias a esa colega por esa recomendación!. 💕 Me emociona que haya tejido tantas experiencias, y quiero compartir 3 retos relevantes en mi carrera: # Retos: ### 1) ¿Desarollo qué...? El reto más constante es explicar mi carrera. Con el tiempo he aprendido a empezar por lo que no somos, es decir no soy socióloga, no soy psicóloga, no soy antropóloga, no soy trabajadora social. Por otra parte, no somos profesionales cuya misión se centre en la asistencia, altruismo y solidaridad social. Aunque estos valores y acciones son hermosas y pueden formar parte de algunos procesos, no son el fin último. Nuestro trabajo se centra en el diseño para la movilización, la formación, la productividad y pensar en común la sostenibilidad de por ejemplo: organizaciones, proyectos, principalmente de la vida de las personas, con las personas y por las personas. Los años en la práctica fortalecen la sensibilidad humana, pero es clave el temple para aceptar aquellas cosas que no podrán ser solucionadas como queremos. El mundo es complejo y lograr un impacto tangible requiere el apoyo y corresponsabilidad mutua de todos los sectores (como bien sabemos). Mi carrera es bonita y compleja, siempre desafiante, soy una eterna aprendíz, la clave es intercambiar conocimientos, jamás imponer nada, nunca creer que lo sé todo y lo más importante es conocer las necesidades y diversas realidades. ### 2) Exponerse Mi carrera exige el relacionamiento y el trato directo constante, ya sea en persona o a través de la comunicación virtual. Es un aprendizaje diario: siempre hay mejores maneras de comunicarse. El desafío es lograr que la comunicación sea efectiva, aplicando estrategias de comprensión y experimentando nuevas cosas. Por otro lado, está el reto de la exposición pública: ser oradora, facilitadora, ponente o cualquier rol que implique hablar frente a un grupo. Honestamente, siempre me he sentido mucho más cómoda tras bastidores: diseñando, escribiendo, coordinando. No obstante, siempre llega el momento de aceptar el desafío de estar al frente, ante pocas o muchas personas. Uf sí, esto genera muchos nervios, y creo que esa sensación no se irá nunca. Aunque estoy explorando este terreno y sé cuánto me falta por mejorar (por ejemplo, el dominio del micrófono, el volumen de la voz y la gestión de los nervios), es un desafío que asumo con entusiasmo. Esto son cosas tan humanas y a la vez técnicas que solo se dominan con el estudio y la experiencia. Es por eso que hago pocos videos, pero tengo el enorme desafío de empezar a crearlos; estoy segura de que será una herramienta muy útil. A pesar de que disfruto la discreción y el trabajo online, mi carrera me ha enseñado enormemente la importancia de las relaciones sociales. Es increíble lo mucho que se aprende al conectar. ### 3. Autocuidado (La prioridad 1) El tercer y más importante reto es el autocuidado para mantenerse estable emocional y físicamente. El amor por las humanidades y el contacto con historias complejas sensibilizan profundamente. Es duro conocer realidades que, a veces, sabes que no podrás solucionar por completo. Esto exige desarrollar una fuerza que nos permita seguir forjando el camino por las causas sociales y el bien común, sin derrumbarse. Este reto no solo aplica a mi carrera, sino a todas las personas. Es indispensable: hacer terapia frecuentemente, reír, hacer ejercicio, aplicar pausas activas, mantener una buena higiene postural, alimentarse bien, dormir lo necesario y compartir con personas que sumen. Hay que generar espacios de distracción y ocio que, para mí, son productivos cuando generan felicidad y bienestar propio. Como me dijo un médico: "hay que hacer todo lo bueno que genere endorfinas". Es muy fácil abrumarse por la crisis local o global. Existe una cuerda muy delgada entre mantenerse estable y decaer por aquellas cosas cuya solución no dependen de mí. It is a daily learning process: there are always better ways to communicate. The challenge is to make communication effective by applying comprehension strategies and trying new things. On the other hand, there is the challenge of public exposure: being a speaker, facilitator, presenter, or any role that involves speaking in front of a group. Honestly, I have always felt much more comfortable behind the scenes: designing, writing, coordinating. However, there always comes a time to accept the challenge of being in front of a few or many people. Oh yes, this makes me very nervous, and I don't think that feeling will ever go away. Although I am exploring this area and I know how much I still have to improve (for example, microphone skills, voice volume, and managing nerves), it is a challenge that I take on with enthusiasm. These are such human and technical skills that can only be mastered through study and experience. That's why I make few videos, but I have the enormous challenge of starting to create them; I'm sure it will be a very useful tool. Although I enjoy discretion and working online, my career has taught me enormously about the importance of social relationships. It's amazing how much you learn by connecting. ### 3. Self-care (Priority 1) The third and most important challenge is self-care to remain emotionally and physically stable. A love of the humanities and exposure to complex stories can be deeply moving. It is difficult to learn about realities that, at times, you know you will not be able to completely solve. This requires developing a protective shell that allows us to continue forging ahead for social causes and the common good, without breaking down. This challenge applies not only to my career, but to everyone. It is essential to go to therapy regularly, laugh, exercise, take active breaks, maintain good posture, eat well, get enough sleep, and spend time with people who add value to your life. You have to create spaces for distraction and leisure, which, for me, are productive when they generate happiness and well-being. As a doctor once told me, “You have to do everything good that generates endorphins.” It's very easy to get overwhelmed by local or global crises. There's a very fine line between staying stable and falling apart over things that are beyond my control. That's why the challenge of taking care of yourself is the number one priority.
