Mi encuentro inexplicable comienza un día en que acababa de llegar a casa del trabajo cuando sonó mi teléfono celular. Lo atendí de camino a la cocina para tomar un té. Era un número que no reconocía, pero como actualmente había perdido todos mis contactos, eso no era demasiado raro. Realmente odiaba cuando perdía todos mis números de contacto, pero no tenía una copia de seguridad, así que había poco que pudiera hacer.

Cuando respondí, solo escuché silencio en el otro extremo. La persona que llamó no habló, simplemente me escuchó decir "hola" y solo hizo una extraña serie de ruidos en varios puntos a lo largo de la llamada.

En un momento dado, después de escucharme decir "hola" por cuarta vez, la persona se rió maniáticamente como si yo fuera la cosa más divertida de la historia, que es algo de lo que no estoy seguro de que me hayan acusado antes porque generalmente soy una persona muy seria. Intenté varias veces conversar y preguntar quién era, pero cada vez que la persona que llamaba se reía de nuevo, luego colgaba. Esto sucedió tres veces más con resultados similares hasta que finalmente me frustré y dejé de responder las llamadas.

Fue extraño, por decir lo menos. Pero cuando se trata de extrañas llamadas telefónicas, esto no era tan malo. Además, tenía la curiosidad suficiente ahora que si recibía otra llamada de esta misteriosa persona, en realidad podría responderla. Y aunque probablemente era solo alguien jugando y tratando de asustarme, mi curiosidad era bien grande.

Pero no importa cuántas veces busqué en Internet noticias y cualquier otra cosa sobre llamadas telefónicas extrañas y otros fenómenos sobrenaturales, no pude encontrar nada que describiera o explicara lo que estaba pasando. Ningún artículo o blog mencionó nada sobre escuchar estos sonidos extraños durante una llamada. Así que decidí que tal vez era uno de mis amigos haciendo todo el asunto para tratar de hacerme una broma. Tal vez esto no era tan serio después de todo.

Y, sin embargo, cada vez que estaba solo en la casa, escuchaba esos mismos sonidos extraños en mi teléfono celular cuando hablaba con la gente. Hubo dos cosas que aprendí de esto: o realmente no provenían de quien me llamaba, o de alguna manera podían escuchar mis conversaciones sin que yo lo supiera. De cualquier manera, me sentí asustado.

Tanto es así que decidí tomar medidas. Llevé mi teléfono a la tienda y le pedí al técnico que lo echara un vistazo, para ver si algo andaba mal con el hardware, pero me dijeron que el teléfono estaba en perfectas condiciones, que no había nada de malo en ello. Me fui a casa y comencé a preguntarme qué podía hacer cuando el teléfono sonó de repente y después de decir "hola" escuché los sonidos extraños una vez más.

Esa risa espeluznante me estaba poniendo de los nervios, así que decidí decirle a la persona que llamaba que sabía lo que estaba haciendo, que sabía quién era y que no era gracioso.

My unexplained encounter begins a day when I'd just gotten home from work when my cellphone rang. I picked it up on my way to the kitchen for some tea. It was a number I didn't recognize, but since I had currently lost all of my contacts that wasn't too surprising. I really hated when I lost all of my contact numbers but I didn't have a backup so there was little that I could do.

When I answered, I heard only silence on the other end. The caller didn't speak, he or she simply listened to me saying "hello" and only made a bizarre series of noises at various points throughout the call.

At one point, after listening to me saying "hello" for like the fourth time, the person laughed maniacally like I was the funniest thing ever, which is something I'm not sure I've ever been accused of being before because I am usually a very serious person. I tried several times to make some conversation and ask who it was, but each time the caller would laugh again, then hang up. This happened three more times with similar results until finally I got frustrated and stopped answering the calls.

It was odd, to say the least. But as strange phone calls go, this wasn't that bad. Plus, I was curious enough now that if I did get another call from this mysterious caller, I might actually answer it. And even though it was probably just someone messing around and trying to freak me out, my curiosity was bigger.

But no matter how many times I looked over the internet for news stories and whatever else about strange phone calls and other supernatural phenomena, I couldn't find anything describing or explaining what I was going through. No articles or blogs mentioned anything about hearing these weird sounds during a call. So I decided that maybe it was one of my friends doing the whole thing to try and prank me. Maybe this wasn't so serious after all.

And yet, whenever I was alone in the house, I would hear those same bizarre sounds on my cellphone when I was talking to people. There were two things I learned from this: either they weren't really coming from whoever was calling me, or they were somehow able to listen to my conversations without me knowing. Either way, I felt creeped out.

So much so that I decided to take action. I took my phone to the shop and asked the technician to take a look at it, to see if something was wrong with the hardware but I was told the phone was in perfect condition, there was nothing wrong with it. I went home and started wondering what I could do when the phone suddenly rang and after saying "hello" I heard the weird sounds once again.

That creepy laugh was getting on my nerves so I decided to tell the caller that I knew what he was doing, that I knew who he was, and that it wasn't funny.

Después de escuchar un grito masivo, para mi sorpresa, la persona en el otro extremo inmediatamente colgó.

Al día siguiente, recibí un mensaje del mismo teléfono que antes. La línea de asunto decía: "Hola" la abrí y dentro había una foto mía luciendo bastante sobresaltada, tomada mientras hablaba por teléfono. Cuando lo vi, mi corazón se saltó un latido.

¡Esta persona me estaba mirando! Él o ella me había estado espiando durante semanas, llamándome todas las noches, riendo histéricamente y tomándome fotos. Una vez más, le respondí un mensaje preguntando quién era esta persona y por qué estaban haciendo esto. Como era de esperar, no hubo respuesta.

Pensé en reportarlo a las autoridades, pero pensé que esto era probablemente solo un juego que un amigo mío podría haber estado jugando.

¿O quizás era otra cosa?

Pasaron unos días y comencé a notar un cambio en mí mismo. Ya no me sentía bien, era como si algo estuviera mal. Seguí despertándome en medio de la noche sudando y sintiendo náuseas. Estos sentimientos fueron empeorando a medida que pasaban los días.

A veces empezaba a tener pesadillas sobre estar en una habitación oscura con un monstruo mirándome. Otras veces me despertaba gritando y temblando incontrolablemente de miedo. Sentí que estaba perdiendo el control, y la presión constante para saber quién estaba detrás de esto era abrumadora.

Entonces sucedió. Estaba acostado en la cama tarde en la noche cuando sonó el teléfono. Ahora, nunca he sido particularmente supersticioso, pero la llamada fue exactamente a las 3:33 am. Agrré el teléfono, y cuando dije hola, el sonido de la risa llegó alto y claro. Un frío recorrió mi columna vertebral mientras la persona que llamaba gritaba antes de colgar. Momentos después escuché un golpe en la puerta, y cuando respondí, no había nadie allí.

Me quedé congelado en su lugar por un momento y luego me alejé hacia la sala de estar. Me senté en el sofá y miré fijamente al espacio pensando en esta situación. No sabía qué hacer.

Estaba extremadamente frustrado y furioso por eso. Caminé de regreso a mi habitación, y cuando entré, lo vi. Un enorme payaso horrible, de unos 2,5 metros de altura, con una cara de miedo mirándome con ojos amarillos y enormes colmillos dentro de su boca. Y eso es todo lo que recuerdo.

After hearing a massive scream, to my surprise, the person on the other end immediately hung up.

The next day, I received a message from the same phone as before. The subject line read: "Hello" I opened it and inside was a picture of me looking quite startled, taken while I was making talking on the phone. When I saw it, my heart skipped a beat.

This person was watching me! He or she had been spying on me for weeks, calling me every night, laughing hysterically, and taking pictures of me. Once again, I messaged back asking who this person was and why they were doing this. As expected, there was no reply.

I thought about reporting it to the authorities, but I figured this was probably just some game a friend of mine might have been playing.

Or was it?

A few days passed, and I started noticing a change in myself. I didn't feel right anymore like something was off. I kept waking up in the middle of the night sweating and feeling nauseous. These feelings were getting worse as days went by.

Sometimes I would start having nightmares about being in a dark room with a monster staring at me. Other times I would wake up screaming and shaking uncontrollably with fear. I felt like I was losing control, and the constant pressure to know who was behind it was overwhelming.

Then it happened. I was lying in bed late in the evening when the phone rang. Now, I've never been particularly superstitious but the call was exactly on 3:33 am. I picked up the phone, and when I said hello, the sound of laughter came through loud and clear. A cold chill ran down my spine as the caller screamed before hanging up. Moments later I heard a knock at the door, and when I answered it, there was no one there.

I stood frozen in place for a moment and then walked away towards the living room. I sat down on the couch and stared blankly into space thinking about this predicament. I didn't know what to do.

I was extremely frustrated and furious about it. I walked back to my bedroom, and when I entered, I saw it. A huge horrible clown, around 2.5 meters tall, with a scary face looking at me with yellow eyes and huge fangs inside its mouth. And that is all I remember.
