La Madriguera

De un pequeño antro, de mala muerte dicen algunos, sale un borracho sacado a patadas por un hombre negro, alto y muy fuerte. El borracho despelucado cae sobre el suelo polvoriento, y la sustancia viscosa que fluye por su nariz se combina con el polvo, haciendo una masa negra y pegajosa. Dando tumbos se levanta el gordito alicorado, que luego se va, sin antes pronunciar maldiciones a la puerta pequeña, de color amarillo con la imagen de una famosa cerveza. La Madriguera, así se llama aquel bar donde los miserables, impíos y pobres pasan las horas apuñalando las penas y el vicio con las gotas de licor. Dentro de La Madriguera todo es irreal, enigmático y con un toque siniestro. La oscuridad lo invade todo y solo unas luces de colores se pasean elegantemente por cada resquicio del lugar. La música popular que le encanta a los oprimidos y a los sin suerte suena, apoderándose de los oídos melancólicos y desgraciados. Al son de las melodías deprimentes, las copas bailan en los labios sedientos de alcohol. Las risas: unas ilógicas, otras sonoras, algunas con picardía y otras simplemente por cuestión del alicoramiento, se toman La Madriguera, avivando el bullicio en ese ambiente casi tóxico por el humo del cigarro. Las sillas y mesas sostienen a los que se han perdido entre sueños de alcohol, sus ronquidos se suman al bullicio de los vivos, más bien borrachos. Los bailes no faltan con las mujeres que trabajan en aquel lugar de perdición y felicidad descontrolada, sin represión. La coordinación se pierde con cada copa, y los pasos precisos se vuelven erráticos, junto con la lucha por mantenerse en el ritmo de la melodía pegajosa. Las mujeres de La Madriguera: algunas delgadas, otras gordas, feas, bellas, viejas y jóvenes, pero que en aquella oscuridad y la fugaz luz de colores, es lo menos importante, solo se necesita tener un cuerpo entre los brazos, que se contonee al ritmo de la música de los miserables. El licor sigue fluyendo como en una fuente, sin parar, siempre y cuando haya dinero que se mueva. Los billetes viejos y rotos ganados con el sudor de la frente, se pasean de mano en mano. Una pequeña economía se forja por un instante en La Madriguera, la oferta y la demanda se controlan naturalmente en una utopía económica, envidia de muchos gobiernos. El intenso calor del día se cierne por el techo de lámina, haciendo que La Madriguera parezca un infierno donde un trago helado es bienvenido y el alcohol se convierte en un elixir maravilloso de diversión y mana sagrado en ese instante de placer y adoración. Un contacto con una divinidad mundana en ese ritual donde los cuerpos invocan a un Loki. El jolgorio en La Madriguera se va acabando, los cuerpos se rinden ante el cansancio, y el dinero se termina dejando los bolsillos vacíos. El sueldo ha desaparecido y las mujeres furiosas esperan a los sinvergüenzas, quien se han gastado hasta el último de los centavos en La Madriguera, eso sí, sin derecho a reembolso por cuestiones de esposas fúricas. La música se apaga, el bullicio termina. Los borrachos desalojan el lugar, unos por cuenta propia, otros con ayuda de los compinches de tragos, y la soledad de a pocos se va tomando La Madriguera, que cierra aquella puerta rústica de madera con ese amarillo chillón y ese chirrido jocoso del óxido en la bisagras. The Burrow

From a small dive bar, some say seedy, a drunk man is kicked out by a tall, very strong black man. The disheveled drunk falls to the dusty floor, and the viscous substance flowing from his nose mixes with the dust, forming a black, sticky mass. The chubby drunk staggers to his feet and leaves, but not before cursing the small yellow door with the image of a famous beer brand on it. The Burrow is the name of the bar where the wretched, the wicked, and the poor spend their hours drowning their sorrows and vices in drops of liquor. Inside The Burrow, everything is unreal, enigmatic, and with a sinister touch. Darkness invades everything, and only a few colored lights elegantly wander through every corner of the place. The popular music that the oppressed and the unlucky love plays, taking over the melancholic and unhappy ears. To the sound of depressing melodies, the glasses dance on lips thirsty for alcohol. The laughter: some illogical, some loud, some mischievous, and some simply due to intoxication, takes over The Burrow, enlivening the hubbub in that atmosphere, which is almost toxic due to the cigarette smoke. The chairs and tables support those who have lost themselves in dreams of alcohol, their snoring adding to the hubbub of the living, or rather, the drunk. There is no shortage of dancing with the women who work in that place of perdition and uncontrolled happiness, without repression. Coordination is lost with each drink, and precise steps become erratic, along with the struggle to keep up with the catchy melody. The women of The Burrow: some thin, others fat, ugly, beautiful, old, and young, but in that darkness and fleeting colored light, it is the least important thing. All that is needed is to have a body in your arms, swaying to the rhythm of the music of the wretched. The liquor keeps flowing like a fountain, nonstop, as long as there is money to be made. Old, torn bills earned by the sweat of their brow are passed from hand to hand. A small economy is forged for a moment in The Burrow, supply and demand are naturally controlled in an economic utopia, the envy of many governments. The intense heat of the day hangs over the tin roof, making The Burrow seem like hell, where a cold drink is welcome and alcohol becomes a wonderful elixir of fun and sacred manna in that moment of pleasure and adoration. A contact with a worldly divinity in that ritual where bodies invoke a Loki. The revelry in The Burrow comes to an end, bodies surrender to exhaustion, and money runs out, leaving pockets empty. Salaries have disappeared and furious women wait for the scoundrels who have spent every last penny in The Burrow, without the right to reimbursement due to angry wives. The music stops, the hubbub ends. The drunks leave the place, some on their own, others with the help of their drinking buddies, and loneliness gradually takes over The Burrow, which closes that rustic wooden door with its garish yellow color and the playful squeak of rust on the hinges. The big black man gives an intimidating smile and says goodbye until the next morning.
