I came across this statue of a person whom i was unfamiliar with named William Booth, he was apparently a general in the Salvation Army of which he was the founder, the salvation army is widely regarded as a humanitarian endeavour.
Officially the salvation army is categorised as both a church and a charitable organisation, they are responsible for operating various homeless shelters in the UK and have a number of charity shops across the country.Source
The above statue is outside their UK headquarters which doubles as a college for their officers, i actually stumbled across the building and statues as i was looking for a toilet to use though they said i couldn't use one unfortunately.
