Consensus thus far appears to be agreement with the name ideas except Boonus is dubious.
Interesting. That might go to explain my instinctive initial reservation over the name. Looking at it more critically, maybe the Boon/Bonus combined qualities are a bit strained, and whether these implied attributes would actually gain universal recognition amongst the intended users.
The only thing that negatively jumped out at me was the “Boo” in Boonus. I understand the intent of Boon and Bonus, but even the sound of “Boo” to me plants the feeling of disapproval and antipathy...
I have to say I the "Boo" in Boonus didn't leap out to me at all. I'd be surprised if that was a common reaction. And maybe the design of any logo could de-emphasise this aspect if it was deemed necessary.
Also there’s the famous song from Usher and Alicia Keys “My Boo”, meaning sweetheart.
Didn't know that.
And the character Boo Radley from "To Kill A Mockingbird" also comes to mind. And following that, the upbeat '90s song, "Wake Up Boo", by The Boo Radleys.
I registered some domain names (including co-o.pt) just now for another idea to replace Boonus with a more serious name: Co-opt (also Coopt)
So Coopt would signify a movement that co-opts the existing corrupt order of things.
OK, my reflexive reaction to Co-Opt was one of coercion. I'm wondering if most people would necessarily read it as your more positive interpretation?
So, for me, Boonus would still has more going for it than Co-Opt; but at the same time I do see that there could be a case to find something better.
However, I also thought that perhaps Oodles will suffice as the portal and onboarding name, as well as its other DAPPs, because the definition implies abundance and wealth... So it seems appropriate to want to sign up to get oodles of cred.
Yes, that makes sense.
Dialing back the proliferation of names we’re using will reduce confusion and improve recall.
A sensible move.
Also look back at my comment where I introduced these new name choices because I’ve added some example logos for the other name ideas.
Looking at them, for me, the examples of Bleep and Oodles have strong and playful visual appeal. Keeper and Uncommons show potential in conveying their individual roles given the right fonts / logos, as with Boonus.
