My Inner Duality - (A Song-Inspired Story)

My Duality.gif

For as long as I can remember I have been struggling with this imbalance in my personality, and before anyone else puts on his/her smart-ass pants I will call it out and say it´s probably that duality that makes us human.

The imbalance between one side the predator in me and on the other my demi-god complex that would like nothing better than to protect mankind it worst enemy, Mankind.

I Am My Own Worst Enemy (LYRICS) - Robert Pettersson Ft. Helena Josefsson

The Predator in me does not care at all for the walking, talking, monkeys that think they rule this planet. That predator sees so much greed and stupidity that it wishes that the species will drown in its own ignorance.

While my higher self sees so much love in a world that definitely isn't pretty. A world where vessels from flesh and bone are fragile and easily mutilated and destructed,

Still, so many humans try to put love above all other things. Life´s being sacrificed for what the temporary owner of that life thinks is the greater good.

It is not only the love from a parent to a child, but also the effort that a total stranger pours into saving another human, someone they never met.

There is a clear line dividing those two types of humans, and only in times of peril do these identities show their true faces. Who am I, what is the real me in times of duality reality?

I Am Giant - "Duality" Acoustic Slipknot Cover

Can my heart really be that cold, that it would not mind seeing the human race end in favor of more civilized creatures to take back ownership of the planet?

Is the pain of total extinction too big for my mind to grab?

So let´s take a smaller example, would I be able to murder the father of a little girl for personal gain? Maybe I could, but my inner predator would not. He has no interest in that type of gain.

Still, when locked up against my will, with no future perspective I might kill those who tried to keep me caged. That type of restriction would awaken my predator.

These are extreme scenarios but just imagine this everyday life situation in which a father is taking care of his family.

His company manufactures toys that are not 100% safe, knowing that he does not take action as providing for his family comes first. Doing so he and many others are responsible for multiple injuries and deaths.

The same father would pull a kid that is not his own out of a burning car.

Is that the duality between the heart and mind, are we internally divided in Sparrows and Nightingales.

A Nightingale is a singing bird, without sin. He had a voice given to him in his throat, to praise God and gladden the heart of man.

A Sparrow is a bad spiteful bird who is like a pickpocket in his own ways, unlike the nightingale he doesn't like man to be happy.

Wolfsheim - The Sparrows And The Nightingales (long version)

This was my second story inspired by a song. The Wolfsheim song found its way back to me through the translation of the story I am currently publishing. After translating the first three chapters, I was very much reminded of this song and I wanted to incorporate it. But I could not remember the band.

I spend 45 minutes searching for it without any success, only to find it as the song that closes Chapter 4. That means when writing down the story in my native tongue 3 years ago this song already popped into my mind at exactly the same time.

That made this song even more special and caused it to be the next song I would use for my song-inspired stories.

Thanks for the read, have a lovely rest of your day and stay tuned, I am sure I will soon come up with another song-inspired story.
