Around the Pearly Seas (Weekend Freewrite

Prompt First Sentence: One afternoon late in the day, Miguel came to visit us and sit by the reflection of the pool.

Since it was getting close to the colder months, the open activity center was devoid of people, which proved to be to our advantage.

"So what's this about?" Miguel had asked, looking expectantly between Ivy and Tom.

Ivy cut to the chase and handed Miguel a slip of paper, "We just wanted to know if these words have any meaning to you?"

When Miguel raised his eyebrows in question, Tom had to butt in saying, "Well, you're the best foreign language expert we know here so..." he rubbed his nape awkwardly and sheepishly looked between Ivy and Miguel.

Before Ivy could tell Tom off, Miguel was already chuckling, "All right kids, you got me there! But let's see here, these words- they don't make much sense..."

Ivy and Tom exchanged defeated looks before Miguel kept talking again, mostly muttering to himself, "Unless you take all these same letters that seem to pair off with each other and form..."

Ivy and Tom now leaned closer to where Miguel was scribbling and their jaws drop at the word being formed.

Prompt 2
"You are quick to express your feelings, and you don't care what the consequences are."

"Sounds like someone I know..." Ivy pointed out as she read off the subtitles from the movie being played at the foreign airport.

She looked around to tease Tom about it but saw him a few feet away, hauling his suitcase off the conveyor belt. Sighing, she decided to approach him, "Tommy, why on earth would you even pack all these long-sleeved shirts? And seriously, sweaters? In a tropical country??"

Was starting to look like it was choking him as Tom huffed out a response, "Mosquitoes. Those things will be the death of you in this place so I decided to pack some for you as well." Tom heft a bag out towards Ivy.

She rolled her eyes and left Tom to carry his bags as she strolled her suitcase towards the exit. Tom was calling out to her as she reached the sliding doors, the war breeze of the city hitting her face.

Let the adventure begin.

Author's note: The characters of Tom and Ivy were previously featured on Another Day Down Under (Weekend Freewrite -- 11/09/2019). I will continue to try to expand on previously written stories. Let's see what I could come up with for the entire year.
