This is the freewrite challenge. I am using @mariannewest’s #freewrite prompt to write this piece (@mariannewest/day-545-5-minute-freewrite-thursday-prompt-gut-reaction)
Today’s prompt is:
gut reaction
I am continuing a story I began last week (this is part eleven). You can find parts one and two and three and four and five and six and seven and eight and nine and ten if you are interested

I met Chip at the gym. I didn't bother trying to shake of the tail. Working out is not illegal. At least, not yet.
And the guys on the door are kind of fussy about who they let it.
Harry greeted me with a nod as I passed him. He has the neck the size of a two hundred year old oak tree. I found Chip working the weights.
"I've got a job for you," he said, sipping his energy drink. "It's not strictly legal. Is that gonna be a problem?"
I shook my head. I'd been in trouble with the government before, and my gut reaction was that this wasn't a big thing. The man following me seemed like an amator. If I was in big trouble they'd have sent a professional. Like the last time.
"This guy, I know," Chip said. "He's filthy rich. He has something he wants us to go and get. It is dangerous." He stared into my eyes. "There is a big possibility you wouldn't make it back.”
I shrugged. My life right now, there wasn't much to come back to, anyways.
"I'm in," I said. "What's the plan?"

As usual I started with the freewrite prompt and used themostdangerouswritingapp.com to write the first five minutes (and then popped it into google docs to check for errors and tidy it up a bit):

I had a comment left on one of my freewrites and I have to say, it made my day!
“Hey I got the book and want to tell you how much I enjoyed your story! Loved the twist at the end… you somehow nearly always manage to produce an unexpected twist... . Love the care you take with your characters, intertwining them.” @owasco

Voices In The Darkness is now ALSO available as a paperback!
If you want a taster of what is in the book, the video below shows me reading the first 900 words, or so, of my story, The Tell-Tale Dead
