Have you played this AoE game? It has been brought back to life by fans after being oficially abandoned. It is playable online only, where you can progress with your persistent (instanced) city set out on campaign quests and battle PvP. It is not made of a single world, but of instanced areas accessible through the menu.
Your city is always running even when you're not logged in, though, which is great because you have crafting to do - materials take time to make through your built resource generation buildings. Without them, you'll have a hard time questing without the available upgrades! PvE missions can be played coop. Bring your newbie or veteran friend along for 2vQuesting!
Skirmish maps are avaible for up to 4 players face off against up to 4 bots. You better rush them, because their bot macro is amazing. Those astonishing PvE upgrades are optionally for PvP too, BUT vanilla PvP is forced in ranked mode! Climb the ladder fair and square using your civilization of choice.
Outside ranked mode, *customize your progress by using selective gear to each of your units and your advisor of choice, which gives specific benefits towards your preferred strategy. Then take on well-equiped bots or the toughest hand crafted end game missions!
