Here is a quick summary of the events from the last 3 weeks:
July 12:
- poll started about adding Sourcefinder to the whitelist
July 26:
- poll finished, but it will take now 9 days to add the project into the superblock (on August 3)
- I post my concerns about the validity/legitimacy of this and the other 4 polls (see here)
August 3:
- I show people the effects of Sourcefinder now being in the whitelist:
- free magnitude: 9 users have no competition in their magnitudes at that project
- see more at the table below
- there are negative voices about this effect and a new whitelist poll is created:
- SourceFinder with zero workunits for at least 3 weeks. Remove from Whitelist? (vote ends: August 10)
- if this should be 7 days, a vote at all or other things should be discussed more, e.g. in published proposal about polls
August 4:
- WU status: "ETA is another few weeks unfortunately." (reply by the organization that is "responsible" for Sourcefinder)
- I tweet: repeating the 5 whitelist polls from July (mag zero,...) would have been much less 'PR damage' than what we've now
- reply by Sourcefinder admin here
- a new superblock came today, and strangely the total magnitude even increased, for less users (see here)
August 5:
- after 57h SourceFinder was removed from the whitelist (see here). The ongoing poll to remove it has become useless now.
---
- see comments below:
it seems: all users with RAC < 10 will be filtered out, so it'll be progressively more unfair. - btw: the 9 Sourcefinder users were anonymized, b/c it is not their fault: they just got lucky and profit from it
