Larry Is Alive #102 I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the second official working day of the week. Hope we all had a nice Tuesday? Well, the day began with some rains which delayed Larry from hitting the roads with his deliveries. He had to make a quick cup of coffee ☕ to warm himself a bit while he goes to find out the major events in the past that took place today in #history.

Yesterday, Larry had seen alot of sad news as part of his look at today in history. He yearns for palatable news for today. And true to his aspiration, he saw one. He thus begins his look at today in history from Africa! Gentlemen, Larry finds out that Nelson Mandela, popularly known as Maddiba was born on this day in 1918 in Mvezo, South Africa. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a black nationalist and the first Black president of South Africa from 1994–1999.

Larry then shifts his attention to the world of music. He finds out that on this day in 1975, M.I.A. a British-born Sri Lankan rapper was born in London, England. M.I.A., whose full name is Maya Arulpragasam has produced notable hit songs among which are "Paper Planes" from her second album 'Kala' and "O Saya" which is a song she did in collaboration with an Indian composer A.R. Rahman for the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire.

This is "PAPER PLANES". Sit back and enjoy it.

Larry remembers "Slumdog Millionaire" very well. A movie that he loves to watch and the song, 'O Saya'. Just have a look at it here

Larry then moved over to Germany. He finds out that the first volume of Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler's political manifesto that became the bible of Nazism in Germany's Third Reich, was released on this day in 1925, and the second volume followed two years later.

From Germany, Larry switches his attention to North America where he finds out that Benito Pablo Juárez García, a national hero and president of Mexico from 1861 to 1872, who fought against foreign occupation for three years between (1864–67) under the emperor Maximilian and who sought constitutional reforms to create a democratic federal republic died on this day in 1872 in Mexico City.

Larry's attention was drawn to the world of sports, particularly the Olympics. He finds out that on this day in 1976, Nadia Comăneci of Romania became the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event for her performance in the uneven parallel bars at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

Finally, Larry decides to round off his look at today in history as the rains have subsided. He finds out that on this day in 1909, Mohammad Daud Khan, an Afghan politician who overthrew the monarchy of Mohammad Zahir Shah in 1973 to establish Afghanistan as a republic was born. Mohammad Daud Khan served as the Afghan's President from 1973 to 1978.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, and the rains also subsiding, Larry picks up his parcels and begins his day's activities.
