Silver Bloggers' Community Smorgasbord - January 25, 2022

Hello, awesome Silver Bloggers!

We've had a bit of a quiet beginning to this year, as some of us on the team had a real hectic start to the year, with a lot going on in RL. But we are ready to start this new year, and have a little surprise for those whose blogs feature in our Smorgasbord.
Our first Blog of the Month will commence early in February, so don't forget to check in and see what topic Mother has in store for you.
And in the meantime, we leave you with the first edition of our Smorgasbord, in which we share some of your jewels.

But first, let me tell you how we selected the posts.

Selection criteria

All the posts are chosen from posts in the community, and from accounts that have subscribed to the Silver Bloggers' community. Also, the topic must fit in with our general themes as set out on our community page -

  • a keenness to learn more about blockchain and crypto
  • life experiences
  • musings and memories of lives lived
  • planning for (and doing) life beyond formal work
Excluded

Posts that are a response to #BOM and #SilverPrompts are not considered.

If you missed some of those awesome posts, we encourage you to go back and read them. If you would still like to support the authors, even though some are past their payout dates: don't waste your vote, leave a tip, something Mother will be doing as a token of appreciation. (The web versions of @peakd and @ecency offer this facility.)

The "Smorgasbord" - Edition January 25, 2023!

Dealing With the Unexpected

by @scribblingramma

Now life is back to normal. I finished a jigsaw puzzle, and am well into another good library book. I have time to read Hive posts again, and am even writing one. I am glad I was able to help my daughter out in her time of need, and I am also glad I could take the baby back to her when she finally felt better. There is a good reason why we have babies when we are young! I know there are people my age who are raising grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, and I have no idea where they find the energy.

Back after a fun vacation. 🍀😋

Definitely seeing my mother was the best part of it all, being with her, hugging her, feeling her close and being able to take care of her, that is what fills me with happiness and I am sure that every time I remember those moments and see the photos and videos I will feel very happy.

It's been a year since I quit smoking!

by @palomap3

And to top it all off, with the money I have saved during this time I have renewed my computer equipment and still have some left over. It is important to reward yourself for your achievements. And a great effort requires a reward to match. Because I have earned it day by day, minute by minute.

Everything for their friendship

by @sanjeevm

I was a bit reluctant looking at the venue - it was almost at the other end of the city, and never did I go this far to attend a function. And even we are not familiar with their parents. It was even a working day - so many odds. But then I left the decision to my wife saying, if its for her friendship, then I would go, only if they are very good friends. I know the value of childhood friendship - in fact its invaluable.

Oh yes, I made it.

I have not been able to walk this far for a long time now, but after the stents that were inserted in my lower abdomen, I can now walk again.
The high foothills of the mountain were a challenge, but I was determined to give it a go.
It's all a mind matter isn't it? We are free to say yes, I can or no I can't. The first leads to positivity and the latter leads to failure.

Orchid Update! Molly Still Not Liking Orchids

by @bdmillergallery Silver Shadow

Molly and Her Orchids ..
Or so it says. If you ask Molly, she would say, "Keep those dang things far away from me!" So let's not ask her.

... She still does not like Orchids.
That's okay. I'm sorry Molly. I didn't mean to frighten you so badly. lol. She's fine. She would just rather view them from far far away. Unless they become ice cream. Then she will consider eating them. hehehe

Like Mother, Like Daughter

by @ifarmgirl Silver Farm Girl

So to make her feel better, I shared that experience and how the farmboy teased me so and still makes fun of me about it until this time. I don't know but for some reason, crying was my default reaction then and seeing my mother do the same was really amusing.

As a reminder

The #bom and #silverprompts are meant to encourage and inspire. So remember that you can write about any of the topics that have already passed if you have writer's block.
