The second place. Always the second place.

Silver Medal 🥈
How does it feel to earn the Silver Medal? Amazing. It's amazing to stand in front of the crowd holding the a Silver Medal. For the first time in my life, I could say it proudly.
After all, the Gold Medal was 'His.'
We trained together. We matched every day. He was better than me in every way. Naturally, I always lost.
When I won a tournament, he wasn't in it.
When we both enter one, I always lose.
Loss always hurts...
This time, however, I won. It wasn't the best prize, it was my loss as usual, but this tournament had two winners.
A Gold Medal for the Winner, Silver for the runner-up.
A mere the Silver Medal, I would've thrown it away on any other day- But he smiled at me. Hold his Medal close to mine and raised my hand, "You did it!" He declared.
"I'll catch up to you soon!" I shouted back.
For once in my life, I wasn't jealous. I was proud to be standing next to him.
The End

The Five Minutes Version

How does it feel to earn the Silver Medal? Amazing, it's only amazing because "He" is has the Gold.
We dueled every day, and I always lost. When I won a tournament, he wasn't in it. When he was, I always lose.
This time hoewever, I won. It wasn't the best prize, it was my loss as usual, but this tournament had something for the runner up. A mere the Silver Medal, but he smiled at me. Hold his Medal close to mine and said, "You did it!"
"I'll catch up to you soon," I said.
For once in my life, I wasn't jealous. I was proud to be standing next to him.

Author Notes:
This is an entry to Dreemport's FreeWrite Challenge. (Partner in the challenge: @penderis) - The prompt is taken from @daily.prompt's post Day 2116: Medal. #dailyfreeprompt
It's been a long time since I did a #FreeWrite challenge. Like how I used to do them, I polish the writing after I finish, and post both versions of the story.
I don't have a lot to say about this story in particular, I was thinking of some obscure anime as I wrote it. One line stuck in my mind: "I'm okay with being the second place because the first was his right."
What do you think
If you're new to my content, please check out my "Where to Start?" article You'll surely find a story you'll like in there. It's been a long time since I write a #FreeWrite post so tell me if I did good, and encourage me to take part in this more.
