Good to see a lot of my fellow "Hivesters" over on my Twitter account. Just thought I'd take a moment to share my thoughts on how to better promote Hive on Twitter. I have to rush out soon, so instead of a mega-post, I'll just list bullet points about areas of interest.
Don't be in constant promotion mode. I've been on Twitter for a minute and trust me, that shit gets old after awhile. If you look at my account, you'll see me weave mentions of Hive in with my regular content. That way It doesn't come off as too "salesy" and keeps everything fresh. When the Aliens land, you want to be talking about that. And how it relates to Hive... :)
Tweet at at different times of the day. Since only a small percentage of my followers will be online at any one time, I also pin the tweet promoting my latest Hive blog post at the top of my page. This way it will have the best opportunity to reach as many people as possible.
Hashtags are very important on Twitter and I'd like to see more of you using them. Sure, you'll get the attention of other tribe members when you tweet, but you're not trying to preach to the choir, right? You want to reach those people who haven't yet joined. Take a look at my tweets. I spend as much time choosing the right tags as I do writing the content. Trust me, I check the analytics of a lot of my tweets to see what works and what doesn't and make adjustments accordingly.
Use the search box to find relevant tags. A search for #Hive gets me this:

Hi Sarge! This is a good tip to find related ways that the tag is being used and interesting users to follow.
- On https://twitter.com/explore/tabs/trending I check to see what's hot as I'm about to log in. Looking at the screenshot, you can see a country specific snapshot of what people are currently interested in here in America. If you click on the little gear icon at the top of the page, you can change the location. Let's set ours for the UK and see what changes.

And what do you know, as soon as we switch to the UK, we see numerous trends relating to boring SOCCER (I refuse to call it "football" that's for the NFL) and Eurovision. :)
So, if I wanted to tweet specifically to those over in "Blighty" this function would be great in helping me to craft my tweets for that audience.
As I've said here often, time of day is important when considering who you're targeting on Twitter. When I was growing my account, I used to schedule my best tweets for 10:30AM in order to hit the east coast of the US (where most Americans live), right before lunch. But today, with smartphones in so many hands, you'll reach somebody, somewhere 24 hours a day.
If you're trying to connect with soccer moms and Joe six-pack, tone down the blockchain tech talk. They don't know the technical terms, so ease up on that. Break it down so that the average person can understand you by using normal language. I still have to explain what cryptocurrency is to the "normal's" here. You'd think everyone knows by now, but they don't. So lets help them take that first step to join Hive.
Thank you so much!
