Vintage 1986 Silver Statue of Liberty Centennial

Connecticut-based Reliable Corporation is a processor of precious metals. It all started out in 1979 as a producer and distributor of gold, silver, and anode salts. The product range grew over the next thirty years to include wire forms, sterling strips, and fine silver.

Reliable Silver Corporation saw a significant transition in its development towards the end of 2008 when it acquired new ownership. A new hire with a wealth of knowledge in precious metals joined the team. With years of experience in handling trading desks for precious metals, vacuum casting, continuous casting and rolling operations, extrusion, commodities management, and a variety of applications from electroplating to vacuum deposition, and their current crew is still expanding.

1986 Dated Statue of Liberty Centennial 1 Oz round

Reliable Corp. manufactured rounds commemorating the Statue of Liberty's centennial in 1986. These rounds came in two varieties: a dated version with the Reliable Corp emblem and a quote on the reverse, and a undated version without any information. These rounds, which were struck using.999 Fine Silver, are the only ones that Reliable Corp is known to have made.

The obverse shows the Statue of Liberty holding a torch. On the upper half of the silver round is adorn at the edge with eight stars. On the lower half, laurel leaves surround the figure on either side. In honor of the Statue of Liberty's 100th anniversary, the years 1886 and 1986 are written.

On the reverse top:"ONE TROY OUNCE.999+ FINE SILVER-BY RELIABLE CORP", and on the bottom: "STATUE OF LIBERTY CENTENNIAL"

The poem's wording that is written on the Statue of Liberty serves as the reverse's main focal point.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Emma Lazarus wrote the poem/sonnet:

Emma Lazarus, born on July 22, 1849, in New York City, was a prominent American poet. She was of Portuguese Sephardic Jewish descent and her writing often reflected her Jewish heritage. Lazarus was a passionate advocate for immigrants and their rights, which is evident in her famous poem, “The New Colossus.” Lazarus wrote “The New Colossus” in 1883 as part of an auction to raise funds for the pedestal on which the Statue of Liberty would stand. While the poem initially received little attention, it gained significance years later when the words were engraved on a bronze plaque and affixed to the Statue of Liberty. Emma Lazarus passed away at the age of 38 in 1887, but her words continue to inspire millions around the world.1

I love the Statue of Liberty.

A friendship gift from the French people to the Americans, "The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World" (French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is seen as a global representation of democracy and freedom. On October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated. In 1924, it received the designation of National Monument. Since 1933, National Park Service employees have been taking care of the enormous copper statue.

I love the Statue of Liberty that I collected these rounds and bars:
