Murals of the Angels - An Electrified Hummingbird

The area of West Pico Boulevard is a true gold mine for awesome murals. Right between the cross streets of South Westlake Ave. and South Bonnie Brae Street, next to the University Prep Value High School is a small Salvadorian bakery. Its outside wall is decorated with this amazing mural of a hummingbird.

The image is tagged with Espy, and this time it didn't take long to find the artist's page. It looks like many of his images feature birds.

Right next to this huge bird picture stands a life-size image of a beautiful Latina lady. She is wearing a long skirt and a traditional looking shawl, and has a tiny bird on her shoulder. Even though she also has a small bird on her shoulder, probably a Quetzal, the image has a different creator: an artist named Héctor Pónce.

Both muralist have enriched the city of Los Angeles with a number of wonderful murals, as can be seen on their websites, particularly in the predominately Latin neighborhood of Pico Union.
