How to crush bronze with these FIRE cards
Hello everyone, last week I started playing Splinterlands again after I heard that the Terms were changed and bots aren't allowed anymore in the modern format. As I had to start with a rating of 0, I never played the modern format before, I had to climb my way up. After searching for information, which isn't always that easy to find, I found that some cards were really usefull for me to climb out of bronze.
As mentioned, finding this information wasn't always that easy, so I'll share those op cards with you guys. If you're already more experienced, than this guide probably won't help you, but I hope it could be some aid for newer, inexperienced players. In this article, I'll solely focus on the fire splinter, don't worry, in the future, I'll probably write about the other splinters aswell! You can find my article about the earth splinter here: @stekene/guide-how-to-crush-bronze-with-these-earth-cards-easy-climbing
Summoners to rent
Tarsa
The chanches are that you already own this summoner, as he's a rare summoner from the Chaos Legion packs. For those who don't own this card, it's a good idea to rent it. Why? It's a versatile summoner which is quite fine with a lot of monsters of the fire splinter. Will it guarantee you your wins? In my opinion not but in a decent amount of situations it could be a tough opponent. The +1 attack scales quite well with a the melee opportunity / sneak cards which the fire deck has.
Yodin Zaku
Back in the time when I started playing Splinterlands, Chaos Legion wasn't even there yet and Untamed was already sold out, this card was a prefered option for a lot of players, expecially in bronze the card was considered as very (maybe on the border of too?) powerfull. Why do we like to use him? He gives everyone the blast ability. So with one attack, you hit the adjacent monsters aswell. This combined with the +1 for ranged attacks is an awesome combo. Another combo isif paired with Grum Flamblade as he can hit the seond unit aswell because of the blast ability. More about Grum flameblade later on this article.
Monsters to rent
Grum flameblade
I've already spoken about Grum Flameblade. Why is he so nice? His power definitely lies in his bloodlust ability, which let's him gain +1 for every stat when he kills an enemy monster. This together with his tankiness really gives him the saying: kill him (fast) or he'll kill you. His biggest weakness though is his 1speed. This lets him miss his attacks every now and than, which could have been an essential kill to activate bloodlust and get the snowball rolling.
Forgotten one
This one, Forgotten one, is maybe a bit less obvious. Why would I rent him though? For the obnoxious fumes ruleset where every monster is poisoned. His immunity protects him. So yes, he's really niche, but in that niche quite good. As his renting is rather cheap, I would rent him.
Lava launcher
The chanches are big that you already own this card as it's a reward card, yes the last edition you could trade away. But still, I wanted to mention it as I really like to play him in high mana matches as my last monster, to tank sneak attacks. Especially when you use Yodin zaku, he becomes even stronger.
Tusk the wide
This one is quite obvious I think. If you're playing the fire splinter and the opponent is probably using an heavy magic deck, than use Tusk the wide. His void ability will significantly reduce the incoming magic damage. When your bet that the enemy would play magic oriented is wrong, take care though! As he doesn't have a shield stat, he could die quickly.
Scorch fiend
I mentioned his earth variant in my other article aswell (Fungus fiend). The fact that he costs zero mana is always a nice addition to your deck if you have a spare place on the battlefield. He absorbs 1 attack for free, so why don't get / rent him?
Conclusion
I hope this guide about which cards to rent in the fire Splinter was helpfull for you guys! These cards don't cost too much dec to rent and helped me to climb out of bronze rather fast! Will soon try to write a guide about the other splinters aswell. Feel free to let me know in the comments if you would add some other cards aswell!
How did I begin to play Splinterlands?
It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.
Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?
