This is my entry to @NeedleWorkMondayβs I Heart Steemit Challenge! and I have crocheted a π basket holding (well, actually, it is the scrunchy I made earlier with
logo π)
Why I π Steemit and what keeps me here?
When I started here in March this year, I wasn't sure what to expect. I am not into any of the social media platforms, for I think they are a waste of time, scrolling and browsing through other people's lives (What for, I always ask myself).
But Steemit is different. I got to meet so many like-minded people and be part of amazing communities (#NeedleworkMonday being my first community here and most inspirational until today) that not only provides a sense of belonging and friendship but also Steemit is a great platform to learn new things. There are so many nice people here on Steemit too, who are so inspiring and encouraging.
I was able to re-live my childhood and I got to participate in needlework, colouring, drawing, origami, contests and so much more, joining contests for fun. Every week, I learn so many new things and I get to see great needleworkers, craftsmen, artists at work who share knowledge so voluntarily and what everyone shares is priceless.
Although, I spend a lot of time on Steemit these days, I have to say that every second is well worth the time spent here for I take home (and be home at the same time) with me, new knowledge, new courage to try new things and to explore greater heights with my passion and hobbies.
What inspires me to remain a faithful blogger?
The communities here, all you amazing Steemians here, you all inspire me to remain a faithful blogger with your friendship. Steemit provides a wonderful platform for me to share my passion for needlework, for art and crafts. I also get to join so many interesting contests, have so much fun and was even given the opportunity to host one weekly contest through the #ccc community.
I am happy here, thanks to Steemit, thanks to all of you ππ€β€.
Steemit is indeed a great place to be in.
So, here's a quick run through on how I crocheted this π basket using:
- a 12.00mm crochet hook
- a ball of T-shirt yarn
- a π basket pattern from My Poppet Makes which also references the base π pattern from Mamas2Hands which uses sc, dc and tr stitches.

- I made a little adjustment to the pattern which was suppose to start off with Ch 4 and then 12 dc in 4th ch from hook.
- Instead, I started with a magic ring, Ch 3 and then 12 dc into the magic ring.
- The reason I did this was because I wanted a tighter center which magic ring can do.

- Then, I worked the pattern of the base π following Mamas2Hands.

Once the base π shape is completed, I worked on the basket following My Poppet Makes direction of 3 rows of sc, all around the base π shape to form the basket.
After weaving in the ends, here is the π basket.. and what better time to add those lovely #googlyeyes (before the basket stores anything) π, hosted by the cool @googlyeyes.
Mr. Smiley π basket is very pleased and happy to be here, shown by his big smile, spreading love, peace and joy on this coming festive season βπβπ π»π€Άπ». He is all set to store all your precious memories and things π.

If you love any craft that uses needles, come and join the fun with us here every Monday!
