Ulog No. 2: "Acknowledging the Positive and Negative in my Life"

When #ulog, initiated by @surpassinggoogle came about, I did not jump on the bandwagon straight away because of "fear of the unknown." It's a territory that I did not want to explore because I thought to myself, "my life is a bit boring, just normal routine every day, I don't know anything that is really fabulous about my life to write about." So I've just focused on writing about topics on Christianity, education, parenting or life that I know or have learnt from my personal experiences.

I thought #ulog was sort of like writing a diary or a journal, and I did not want to particularly tell everybody that there were days when...

I decided to watch Netflix and not do my assignment.
I was a mess and feeling so far away from God.
I was not able to submit my assignment on its due date.
My boss told me off for procrastinating, hence, unable to submit my assignment, as finishing my Graduate degree in Early Childhood is crucial for my present employment as a preschool teacher.

Because that's the truth. We write things in our diary/journal that we alone know. Like a personal reflection. Then, I realised I always say in my posts that we write to inspire and motivate our readers. We don't only share the glory of our lives, all the good things that are happening in our lives. There are the ugly things, too, about our lives that we turn into a good message that is even more inspiring.

Generally speaking, people are inspired by the success stories of other people, but they did not automatically become successful just like that. They also went through the hardship and struggles in life. They made mistakes, too. After all, they're all human. We are all human.

Yesterday, I chanced upon @lightoj's post "#POETRY: POSITIVE MINDSET Day 224: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: 40 % off and boy, was I struck! Although his poetry talked about "appreciating the present and living in the moment" and "fully enjoying the grace and positivity all around us 100%" (which I actually do as I don't really tend to focus much on the negative aspects of my life so I write about the positive things), I was more affected by his concluding statement which said:

We have to be fully active in our daily activities and carry out routine tasks appropriately. Appreciate the now, while hoping for a better tomorrow.

So I gave him my feedback and comment:

It pays to give attention to someone's writing, especially if it's motivational and devotional because when I did, it reminded me of lessons in life that I know anyway, but I tend to become unaware of my own self. Or maybe I am just in denial at times. I appear to be nonchalant about everything, but in reality, I am so anxious and stressing over a lot of things.

I will get my assignments done. My habits will change. I will dedicate more hours in doing my assignment (of course, apart from work), and less on watching TV (even though French Open is on, and a couple of weeks or three weeks later, Wimbledon starts). But I know I have to limit my screen time regardless what's on if I don't want to repeat the same mistake again.

Maybe less time on Steemit, too, and other social media, such as Facebook, etc.

But most importantly, spend more time with God and hear from Him. Psalm 46:10 tells me,

"Be still and know that I am God."

I know I have nothing to worry about. I have to trust God in all circumstances. I have to cast all my cares unto Him and He will give me rest.

Yes, I am only human, but the Lord is my light, the source of my strength and my peace. With God, everything is possible.

Thank you for reading. By the way, I'm not a good artist. I don't draw. The topmost photo was my first attempt at drawing, using lead pencil, coloured pencils and permanent marker, just the basic tools for drawing, and I am not willing to invest in the best ones. Hahaha.... but anyway, I hope this post has given you something to ponder and has given you inspiration. If you have anything you'd like to add, feedback or comment, please hit "Reply" below. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks and God bless you!
