Around September last year, I got two kittens and I refused to give them permanent names. Why? Because I had given all the previous kittens before them feminine names and these kittens usually turned out to be male. Imagine calling a male cat Daisy. I do not know how to tell a female kitten from a male kitten until they start developing. And honestly, if I had given this set of cats names, I would have been wrong, again! This time I want to discuss the buildings in Kota Tua, Jakarta. Several months ago I visited the old city with my cousin. Before discussing the architecture, allow me to tell you a little about the history of this old city.

This area was previously called the city of Jayakarta, before it was finally attacked and colonized by Dutch traders, the VOC. After taking over the city of Jayakarta, the VOC then built a new city called Batavia. This city became the center of Dutch trade and military during their rule. Then the city of Batavia was changed to Jakarta after Japan took over this city.
