ULOG 147 - Certified Scrum Master training in Sydney part 2

ULOG the log about you!

Another early wake up for me today for the last day of our Scrum Master training. Even though it's not my first Scrum Master training, I did enjoy this one a lot and have learned quite a bit from it. I liked the fact that this time we had the whole team together trained by the same teachers, this allows everyone to be on the same wavelength.

One funny thing that got brought during the meeting is some of the jobs offer where companies were posting job offers saying they are "hiring rock stars" or "programming ninjas" in order to add more capacity and get more job done but the results has been the opposite. Then this was brought up on the projector:

Rock stars and ninjas

The last day ended with an activity which consisted of folding paper planes. Each team (table) was to build as many paper planes as possible and test them. We had multiple requirements and rules such as they needed to be from paper 1/4 size of A4, the test is successful if the plane can fly 2 meters and hit the wall in front of it etc... We had 4 times 3 minutes sprints with 45 seconds retrospective. The first sprint was a catastrophy, our sprint was too waterfal style with a long paper folding session and all the testing at the end, we planned to get 10 working planes but only got 5. As the project went on with the guidance of the teachers we managed to apply the basics of Agile, optimise the process and negotiating the change of rules with the product owner and in the end, we planned 15 planes and got 37 working ones!

The course made us realise our team have been implementing Agile the wrong way, not totally wrong but still not right enough. My colleagues and I stayed over for a good half an hour after the training to discuss with Colin and bombarded him with questions which he patiently responded to with good tips.

My mate and I then went for a Ramen at Menya Noodle Bar before jumping on the train for a 2 hours ride.

My day is not finished yet though. I have 30 L of aerated worm compost tea to prepare for Sunday for a customer and get a second hand worm bin prepared with worms and bedding for another one.

Password and Private Keys security

You all know that your Steem password is the access to all your STEEM, SBD, posting, transferring, everything... right?
So, please, follow these simple steps and keep yourself safe:

  1. Apart from the initial setup of your account, NEVER use your password ANYWHERE, if stolen, it will give full control to your Steem account.
  2. Backup your password and keep it somewhere safe. Use a password manager like Lastpass, print it on paper and put it in a safe (no kidding). If you forget your password, no one can help you out.
  3. To login for creating content and curating, use your Private Posting Key
  4. To make transfers and account operations, use your Private Active Key
  5. To encrypt and decrypt memos, use your Private Memo Key
