I had an enjoyable evening with my friends Ernest and Theresa last night. We were classmates in the Hotel and Catering School back in 1986. Ernest and I kept in touch, but the last time I saw Theresa was almost 30 years ago.
Ernest ran into Theresa some years ago, and they have kept in touch since. At the urging of Theresa to organized a meet-up for the three of us, Ernest invited us to his place, and volunteered to cook dinner for us. It was a simple, but delicious home-cooked meal.
After dinner, we chatted over drinks. We reminisced (unavoidable), about the ‘good old days’ in the catering school and our classmates, and we wondered what happened to them. We talked about what happened in our lives after we left the school and what we are doing now.
Conversation was easy. We got on exceptionally well. And it feels as if the last time we met was, maybe, last month, and not years ago. The friendship is still there, and it seemed to have bridged the years. We agreed that neither of us has changed very much – whether in appearance, character or personality.
Time flies when you are are having fun. And all too soon, it was time to say goodnight. It was a lovely evening. After last night, I know we will meet again more regularly – and not in 30 years’ time. Of this, I am quite sure.
