Good night, dear readers. Today I am giving you this simple post where I talk about the importance of reading before going to sleep, in the affective father-son relationship. I hope you like it.
When I was a child my parents did not tell me stories before going to sleep; but my grandparents were in charge of, somehow, filling that space ... although not with readings; but with stories that gave me and read every day. Those moments really were magical. Of intimacy and entertainment, that united me forever with the possible.

Part of the routine that many parents have with their children at the time of going to bed to sleep, is made up of the reading of stories; but this ritual in itself, beyond forming and consolidating healthy habits, actually strengthens and nourishes the father-son relationship in a communion of affection and recognition.
Martin Waddell, author and British critic in children's literature, tells us that in addition to nurturing and consolidating this affective bond, the reading that takes place prior to the last rest of the day greatly favors the neuro-development of the child.
When a close verbal exchange is made between parents and children, which includes reading stories, children improve their self-esteem, intersubjective relationships with other people, regulate their stress levels and reaffirm their self-concept.
But in addition to that the fact of being calm, paying attention to a story favors the knowledge and value for the language and the meanings both personal, as now shared, in the intimacy of the father-son relationship.
In addition, if the reading exercise is done often enough to make the habit a real routine of going to sleep, we will see changes in both the child's auditory attention and vocabulary.
On the other hand, the fact of having contact with other cultures through books and reading places them before scenarios that are outside their close coexistence circles.
Hence the importance of looking for varied stories, that have a literary language and that also reinforce illustrations able to recreate in the child the fantasy, the imagination, the magic, the love for words and the promise that on each page, each night an adventure will be the portal of your dreams.
The book-album, as a proposal, is an invaluable resource because the combination of text with images, together with the relationship and closure that the child must make between them, is an extraordinary exercise where imagination has the first and last word .

Finally, reading aloud by parents or an important figure of attachment, is closely related to the projection of these feelings of protection to the activity that is done, to reading, making it a space and a place Safe for the child.
Reading is one of the healthiest habits that can be passed on to children as part of the education they receive both at school and at home. Reading introduces you into a fantasy world that brings you a large number of benefits that deserve to be taken into account to invite those who do not see so important to children transfer the passion for reading.
