Follow Friday: After summer comes the fall

The News

Just as the weather here turned autumnal the $HIVE price dipped a little. It is still better than it was a month or so ago, so I see no reason to panic. We just have to keep adding value with good posts and by recruiting new Hivers.

Prices

Some changes are coming to Hive communities that will allow more control over what happens in them. I think Hive should be competing with reddit in this department.

The @keychain mobile app has got new features for token swaps.

Friday Follows

  • @skyehi is another drummer on Hive. He has joined the community I set up. We need to find those who share our niche interests and communities are great for that.
  • @stickupboys are doing a lot for the musicians on Hive. The have a curation account to spread some votes.
  • Musician @philsaatchi is posting again after a break.
  • @blocktunes are also doing cool stuff around music on the blockchain.

These people get a share of the post rewards. You can set beneficiaries in some of the Hive front ends such as PeakD.

Meetups

You should follow @buzzparty for news of Hive events.

It looks like @hivebeecon in Poland was a success with a big crowd of Hivers getting together. I keep saying that anyone can set up such an event. Many Hivers have not met others in person and will welcome the opportunity. As with many things you should not just wait for someone else to organise it.

The Dog House

This guy was getting a few downvotes. He wondered why, but I would say it is down to taking the wrong approach on Hive.

Profile

He has only followed one person and only managed to get one follower despite lots of posts. Posting several times to the same community may not make you popular, especially if your posts are really generic. With current AI tools you could easily automate that. To get noticed and accepted you need to put some personality into your posts. Post on topics you are passionate about rather than just going for the rewards. If you can find others who share your interests then it will be fun and the rewards will come.

Hive is actually a social platform, so be sociable. I have seen others who just post and never reply to comments. People will soon lose interest if you do that.

We are all competing for a share of the Hive rewards pool. To get your share you have to work for it. Those who try to cheat the system are likely to get downvoted.

The End

I have posted on this platform on most days over the last seven years. I do so because it is fun and I have made a lot of friends. I have met quite a few of them in person. We have something special here and I will do what I can to promote it. If each of us does a few little things then it all adds up. The future of Hive is up to you!

Have a great weekend.

Hive five!
