Another place where you could (and should) take your little ones to in Montreal, that is related to environments of North America, is the famous Montreal Biodome.
Although I do have to mention before you keep reading below, this place is at the moment closed for renovations, but the renovations is almost over, which would be in late Summer of this year, so expect more (new) awesomeness should you decide to check it out later in the year - and yes, this place open throughout the year, just not during the renovations, of course.
The building itself looks unique as it is part of the super known Olympic Stadium, which I shared before, on the link below, should you like to see more what the whole place looks like from outside and from above.

As the name implies, it is an indoor facility for ecological system that houses FIVE different ecosystems that are found in FOUR seasons climate, so you will be able to experience what it feels like inside a hot tropical forest, check out what habitats living in maple forest, see penguins, birds, lush vegetation, and whatnot, and not forgetting PUFFINS!
Puffins are any of three small species of alcids in the bird genus Fratercula with a brightly coloured beak during the breeding season. These are pelagic seabirds that feed primarily by diving in the water. - Wikipedia
Unfortunately the usage of camera with flash was not allowed, if I remember correctly, so most of the pictures we took are somewhat crap, not sharp :P
But yeah, inside the Montreal Biodome, with 5 ecosystems, you could definitely find various species from birds, to fishes, to mammals.
Much like to the Biosphere (the ONLY museum in North America that is totally dedicated to the environment in North America) I posted two days ago, @thekitchenfairy/the-spectacular-look-of-biosphere-environmental-museum, Montreal Biodome is also the ONLY place in North America AND in the world that reproduce the cycle of the seasons indoors. How cool, right?
I totally recommend this place for everyone, because not just that you can go to the Biodome, you can also check the Olympic Stadium, and not far is the Montreal Insectarium place, also Botanical Garden, the Planetarium. So a visit to this complex would be totally awesome. The entrance fee to the Biodome is not too, too cheap, though, but if you are a student, you can get a discount. And to enter the other places I mentioned, they have different fees as well.
Here are the list of the ecosystems that you would be able to find in the Biodome:
- Tropical Forest
- Maple Forest
- Gulf of St. Lawrence
- Labrador Coast
- Antartic
As any other attraction places, there is also gift shop with various goodies that related to the Biodome (animal stuffies and whatnot) that you can get a souvenir or two of your visit :)
Thanks for looking!
